Is it me or at every Windows launch.....
.....it seems the numbers of pro-MS fanbois on the internet rise from the depths of Redmond, only to disappear shortly after the launch!!:p
Now,don't get me wrong, some of the anti-MS fanbois are just as bad,but it is funny that at every MS OS launch you get a determined clique of people abusing others, which don't see the latest MS vision, as the perfect incarnation of the Massiah(without criticism) determined to lead us to the promised land/cloud.
Or is it that I find MS fanboism(or astroturfing) funnier than the Apple version. Now with the Brother Jobs religion, they at least makes shiny products on top of its OS venturings,MS makes things such as.....Office. I just get the impression of them having a big picture of Steve Ballmer in their bedrooms, shouting death to the non-believers!!:p
Re: Is it me or at every Windows launch.....
It's not just you. And you'll get much of the same when people criticise Ubuntu, Fedora, etc.
Re: Is it me or at every Windows launch.....
The dude in the notorious j.o.s.h thread talking about the windows slates playing skyrim on high was good example. very suspect.
Anyway, it doesn't matter so much - when a product is limp they never have the push to actually make a difference. Vista, Kin, WM7 couldn't be saved with all the spin they could muster. And yet the consoles, Win7 etc have been successes.
It only takes a good product.
Re: Is it me or at every Windows launch.....
I have seen examples of people on the internetz being called backward, since they might dare to use something like Start8 on a Windows 8 install,or even criticise some aspects of the UI(not a I hate MUI rant for example), as MUI is supposedly nigh on perfection already. Its not even a simple case of trying to point out useful alternatives either, just mere name calling/denigrating people. It seems suspect, why anyone would care in the first place TBH,especially as Windows as had a history of people tinkering with UI aspects. Why all of sudden it should matter with MUI is strange.
Re: Is it me or at every Windows launch.....
I'll tell you why.

This is the old way of doing it - "here is your interface"

This is the new way of doing it - "go and find an interface you like", and yes, they are all the same OS.
So when the microsoft interface becomes just another internet explorer - something that people use until they get their preferred option installed, then thats another lump of what MS does made unimportant.
Re: Is it me or at every Windows launch.....
I agree with finding what suits you,so it makes no sense when people criticise others for tinkering with the UI to suit their own usage habits. Both Linux and Android have had this for a long time as you can tweak the desktop manager layout or launcher. Even Windows has had this to a lesser degree,as you could add docks or make a minimal desktop as some people prefer just using things like typing.
Re: Is it me or at every Windows launch.....
Valve needs to get multitasking and a desktop into Steam, something you can autorun on windows startup and never need to leave.
Meanwhile they continue to work on the Liunx version, porting games and apps over slowly but surely.
Then there will be a moment in time where everything the person needs is exactly the same on either OS.
And then suddenly when you buy a gaming computer you won't be buying windows, you will be installing steam on top of a free OS.
