need advice - off work ill

Hi

I have be off work for 3 days this week due to a dentist drilling through a nerve in my tooth! ( pain pain pain!)

After waiting 3 days I have finally had to have the tooth removed. As you can imagine I haven't had more than a few hours sleep in the past week and have not been to work.

Generally a "sick note" is needed if off work for 3 days or more but a dentist cant provide one. What do I do?

See your GP? He can liaise with your dentist to determine what happened. I'm surprised you dentist can't supply one though, as a dentist is a medical professional.

Sickness self certification is (usually) seven days or less, you only need a doctor's note on the eighth day and beyond.

Thanks mate. Factually feel much much better already. Dentist was redoing a filling and somehow destroyed my tooth and drilled through the nerve. Unfortunately then then to hide it and refilled the tooth. As you can imagine, that didn't go very well.

Fast forward 3 weeks, I'm in agony, i go back to the dentists to find the person who did my tooth has had the sack! Anyway I was given the option of a root canal that after talking to a good friend I mine I decided to take. Sadly after second xray I was told the tooth could not be saved and had to be pulled.

For the first week you will need to do a self certificate, after that though you will need to get a sick (fit) note from your doctor
