Potential parrot sketch - HELP!
Oh wise and knowledgeable Hexites, I'm in need of some advice. Some friends of mine have gone on holiday and left me with the key so I can go in and feed/water their chickens and a pair of parrots. Unfortunately they have 2 locks on their front door and I have just the 1 key...
Chickens I can jump the fence to sort out, but I can't get in to sort the parrots. A pair of senegal parrots cost more than a replacement window, sentimental value aside. Breaking and entering isn't particularly legal though!
I suspect a locksmith wont help as it's not my house, but I'll ring a couple to check later.
I've tried to contact my friends through google+, google talk, email, text messages and by phone but nothing so far.
What would you do?

Re: Potential parrot sketch - HELP!
I'd call the local cops - explain the situation and ask their advice on suitable locksmiths. They'll have encountered this sort of stuff before.

Re: Potential parrot sketch - HELP!
I don't mean to sound patronising, but are you sure they didn't give you the back door key?
-
Re: Potential parrot sketch - HELP!
Wrong type of key for the back door. Also the key appears to work in the front door. It turns and feels like it's working the lock, yet the door still wont open even with a good shove. Hence why I think they've used the other lock. I've contacted their landlord and he's posting me the other key. Hopefully the birds will be ok another day. Panic over(ish)!

Re: Potential parrot sketch - HELP!
Squawk like a Parrot through the letterbox; if you hear 'em...
Your safe
All joking aside, hope they are ok!!

Re: Potential parrot sketch - HELP!
i would unlock the lock you can and boot the door in.
Hopefully the lock gives way and you get in ok.
What key do you have the lock for, the chubb or the mortice?

I've got the key for the yale lock, not the mortice. The missing key is now in the post though, next day delivery.

Re: Potential parrot sketch - HELP!

Re: Potential parrot sketch - HELP!
Key was posted yesterday via special delivery. Supposedly guaranteed delivery by 1pm. Still no key...
-
Re: Potential parrot sketch - HELP!
That's not good :( Guess you haven\'t managed to get in touch with the owners yet either? That\'s a bit bloody stupid of them.
-
Re: Potential parrot sketch - HELP!
I did get a text from them asking me to contact their landlord for a key. Which I\'d done. They also suggested which window is in greatest need of replacement.
So do I speak to their neighbours first? "Sorry to bother you, if you see me acting suspiciously next door I\'m just smashing a window and breaking in to feed some parrots."

As the landlord for the tracking number and get on the phone to Royal Mail. Smash the window and make them pay for the repair. There guaranteed service didnt work!

It seems they avoided having to do some pining!! :p
They survive to claw people's heads and destroy headsets another day!!

But he's not in yet! Only at 'got key' stage.. (unless you know something?)

Re: Potential parrot sketch - HELP!
The parrots are thankfully not pining for a view of Slartibartfast's finest work. I think they're pretty bored though. They're in a room so they can fly around rather than just their cage and they've had a decent attempt at wallpaper stripping...

No surpise there. Parrots need a lot of stimulation, I daresay they'll be up to all sorts of other naughtiness before the week is out.
BTW, pics of them please. I love parrots but we have three cats and in any case I'd not really have the time to give one enough attention to keep it happy. Cockatoos are my absolute favourite :) .

I second that.
We used have a gorgeous African grey named koko.
It would say goodnight to you when you turned out the lights at night and good morning to you when you walked into the room in the morning.
It was abused before we got it so it was a bit viscous and you could not handle it, it also had a rather foul beak on it and when it got stressed out it would start screaming F**K YOU at the top of it's lungs.
Unfortunately we had to get rid of it when we found out my wife was pregnant with our daughter as it would have done major damage if she stuck her fingers in the cage.

Glad to hear they were alright...

Re: Potential parrot sketch - HELP!
My mum has a African Grey called Joey and he bit my ear last week.
Git.
How are the Birds???

Re: Potential parrot sketch - HELP!
Birds are fine, their owners are back now. A certain moose may have some pictures of said birds from a previous occasion, but I neglected to take any when I had the chance :(
