Disney making more Star Wars films

I felt a great disturbance in the Force, as if millions of voices suddenly cried out in terror and were suddenly silenced. I fear something terrible has happened.
    Is nothing sacred?

"In a statement announcing the purchase, Disney said it planned to release a new Star Wars film, episode seven, in 2015.

That will be followed by episodes eight and nine and then one new movie every two or three years, the company said."

Yeah because Marvel and Pixar movies are all crap, right?

Seriously, they've picked up the whole darn empire (hah) including ILM and everybody working there. With new producers/directors SW could be rebooted and be relevant again. Good thing.

The worst thing for star wars was Lucas. Now he is out of it, it might be good.

Like the digital re-masterings, no one turned round to the guy and said "Han shot first" or "No way would he tread on jabba" because he had a culture of fear. If your managing something and juniors are too scared to be able to say "sir this is crap" your going to have iOS maps.

Bold move, Lucas not there is a good thing but how good we shall see. I haven't read enough about it but they really should give up with that timeline and go back to the older parts in the universe like the old republic era which has so much lore its unbelievable, and provides much better action scenes which would be awesome!.

So they say they are going to be doing a new film every 2 - 3 years?

Re: Disney making more Star Wars films

To be fair, GL did say he originally envisaged the saga being 9 films (a neufology?). But this was when Episode 1 was just about to come out, and no-one knew how bad it was...

It's a completly different scenario. Everytime a new group of people want to do a batman film they just start from the beginning and ignore all that went before them.
That cant happen with Starwars. They need to find new scripts, with new characters around the timeline thats been set by the existing films.
If they had to do that with Batman the results would have been very different.
So defenatly flogging a dead horse.
They've gotta get thier £2.5billion back somehow. You just know this is gonna be a cash cow for disney. They know they can make money from this whatever the quality of the final product. Last 3 films being a prime example.
