Church of Holy Sepulchre gets a mammoth water bill

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-middle-east-20188167

They've not paid their water bill for a fair while because they thought they'd had a deal in the past but the nil they got in 1999 wasn't a mistake.... Shoulda paid it

Re: Church of Holy Sepulchre gets a mammoth water bill

In these hard financial times, everyone is trying to get money back. Unfortunate but a debt is a debt.

    Romans 13:7-8 says

Owe no man any thing, but to love one another: for he that loveth another hath fulfilled the law.

as per the bible, the church should pay.

Re: Church of Holy Sepulchre gets a mammoth water bill

Why would the company suddenly take it upon themselves to bill a religious order 14 years *later*, and demand back payment for that far back? That's completely ridiculous. I mean that period is twice as long as the Israeli statute of limitations, how can they honestly think they can get paid for that, much less deserve it? And I'm pretty sure regular billing would be expected to lay claim to compensation for services rendered, certainly ethically speaking that would be the case.

I'm sure that whatever the final outcome, someone will mention something related to "divine intervention" for the resolution.

Turns out there is no god, so the pretense the church was working on is invalid.

Would be a nice gesture, after the church has gone titsup for the water company to make it a hospital

Maybe they need a backup then , in case they've got the wrong god ,and the real one notices and decides to send them the bill ?

Or maybe its happy hour up in heaven ?

    Lord knows

I dont think believing in anything makes you invulnerable to stupidity ,carelessness or life - but then again it depends what you believe in so perhaps it is a question of faith and what you perceive to be reality and the icing on the cake. ( I dont mean space cake here )

He was probably just happy for the publicity. It's not like the people he takes money from care about evidence in the slightest.

When your desperate , sometimes evidence takes a back seat to other things .

Emotions tend to cloud judgement but they can also keep you going when the path becomes hard.

    What a paradox , eh ?

Its not that either are bad, but they are bad when used incorrectly ( and im talking about reason / logic here too )

After all even logic / reason gives you emotional satisfaction , but using emotional satisfaction to dictate a logical outcome is something else .

So what motivates you to be logical , fear , pleasure or perhaps something more spontaneous like a dream or Eureka moment ?

From nothing comes something till something is nothing else

If he was doing it for free then fine, but when you are taking advantage of people for financial gain then it needs to be stopped. Call the Samaritans, they aren't pretending to be anything the aren't and they wont need your card details to help you.
