So a friend who's visiting GB wants to see the white cliffs, given the horrible weather and like, where would be a good place to head too?
Dover Castle?
I don't really know Kent. So any advice and suggests are welcome

Dover castle is a great day out, make sure they do the war time tunnels too
Canterbury is also well worth a look and not far from Dover
The high street is very pretty, lots of shops to duck into, as well as museums (Canterbury Heritage, Canterbury Roman, Rupert the Bear) as well as a beautiful cathedral
If they're looking for something to eat/drink "The Parrot" (formally Simple Simons) is a great pub with very good food and real ale (yours truly use to work there)
Or if you want a sit down meal my favorite was always Posillipo (a fantastic Italian)
Update:
Getting away from Canterbury, Leeds Castle near Maidstone is well worth a visit, haven't been there myself, but have heard good things

I'd recommend a visit to Canterbury, has great history (visit to cathedral is a must), lots of nice little independent restaurants and considerably less chav's than most other places in Kent.
As for castle's I'd visit Leeds Castle near Maidstone over any other in Kent.

you should try Leeds Castle as well, good food at the cafe restaurant and wide open spaces with a chance to go in and explore the history of the castle. There are also free roaming peacocks and other birds, so have some bird seeds with you.

All those places are very touristy.
If you're after something less full on Bodiam castle is in the middle of nowhere (less crowds)

and has a pub opposite that does a very good pub lunch by an open fire. It's one of my must-see's when the Aus relatives come over for a low-stress British cultural experience.

If you're after a fine dining dinner, a mile up the road is the Michelin starred Curlew.

Society's to blame,
Or possibly Atari.
Dover castle is really exposed in the winter; really windy. The problem with the white cliffs is that you have to be looking at them from sea side. I think there is a good walk from St Margerets bay towards along the cliffs which may be the best bet although not th right time of year. There is a pub near the beach which is not bad at all. Ian Fleming lived in St Margerets for a bit.
Whitstable for oysters.
Rye (?) I think is very touristy.
Used to love having fish and chips in Margate by the sea. Great if you have kids and good weather.
Sandwich is decent for a few hours stroll.
I don't like Canterbury.
Canterbury and the surrounding areas have some good drinking spots.
How about a tour of the Shepherds Neame brewery in Faversham??
http://www.shepherdneame.co.uk/tours.../brewery-tours
Or if Beer isn't your kinda thing there always the Biddendens cider
http://www.biddendenvineyards.com/
Yeah Faversham has a lot of nice pubs, stayed at the Sun Inn once, very nice!
If you get bored of Shepherd Neame this is a little gem slightly off Faversham:

I would limit the amount of Shepherds Neame anyone visiting may drink as they put a lot of hops in their beer. The next morning can be most unpleasent.![]()
Hmmmm. I have some fond and not so fond memories of Biddenden cider. I grew up with that stuff.
What about Harveys ?
