I want Moose re-introduced into England. It would be a form of natural selection for those too high or too drunk to avoid them!!
We have already had the objective analysis, and it was ignored by the government.
Been in favour of this for a long time, whatever you think of it, surely we can all agree that it's not worth the resources to fight it, especially not now. legalise it, slap VAT on it watch the revenue roll in from direct tax, tax on munchies, jobs and the inevitable tourists, I really think we could trump Amsterdam on that front.
Sadly I'm pretty sure like in California it will still be illegal under federal law.
The funny thing is Obama himself was ( prob still is ) a weed smoker
If thats true then it just goes to show that no matter whose in power in the house its always going to remain the same .
If your going to restrict or put a class on any drug then it should be booze iIMO . There is far more social discord ,abuse and trouble caused from problems stemming from that , than pot has ever caused - but they will never restrict that because its BIG ££££££ .
Its easily accessed and worse is so widely accepted in our culture that whenever someones done something while intoxicated on it it never comes over anywhere near as bad as pot or .anything else ( because our culture actually encourages being irresponsible by making an ass of ourselves on it )- with the en result you could go into any pub in the uk get assaulted and have the attacker walking smugly away.
As a disabled person i take exception to this because Ive been hassled by drunk chavs before - even while not in bars and nothing is being done about
If I fought back ( somehow ) and hurt the idiot ( which id have too to stop him ) id be charged while putting myself at risk, if i didnt id prob need to be certified for emotional trauma it caused given how physically " fragile " i am - while the idiot could plead ignorance and walk away.
What happens when their offspring with no hope , poor economy / education plus booze come into age and become the proverbial ticking time bomb .waiting to happen ?

Disgusting.
The dam nearly stopped tourists from being able to smoke weed. Apparently the idea was voted out, but if it really was that lucrative then why would they consider such an action anyway?
I dunno the full ins and outs of it but i suspect that there are many elements to legalising cannabis, i suspect it would mean more departments in government and all kinds of new regulation that would cost money... i dunno.
I think we would be better with it as a controlled legal substance tbh.
I found it a great drug personally, but then I have lot of respect for these things and the origins - not as some party tool but for healing or insight into things.
Music is enhanced , lessons can be learned - observations made and moments enjoyed or shared - but it is not a violent drug ( unlike booze ) which seems to encourage senseless stupidity and the very ugly flaws that are usually ignored or reserved until alcohol make it ok..

US prison corporations have a vested interest in keeping soft drugs illegal, otherwise they wont get an influx of (mostly black) 'criminals' and the slave labour would dry up. So to keep the easy cash rolling in, they lobby the hell out of the government to keep cannabis on the naughty drug list.
Sadly most of our prisons are privately run nowadays, mainly by G4S. Along with various other bits of our criminal justice system, including evidence gathering and alike.
More prisoners = more profit.

Perhaps because Fascists have a history of incompetence too.
It is, of course, still illegal under federal law.
The question then becomes how far will the state go to fight the feds. Arizona has recently faced off against the feds on immigration policy.
Montana and a couple of others have passed firearms freedom acts, making it legal under state law to own new manufacture automatic weapons, which is against federal law. Litigation is on going.
Which comes back to the mess of states rights versus federal rights. Can a man grow potatoes on his own land for his own consumption?
It's almost like they fought a war on this issue...
Keep in mind as teepee has already said it is still illegal.
Just as it is here in The Netherlands, it has in fact been decriminalised.
There is a big difference between legal and decriminalised.
If you decriminalise something the law against it is still on the books but it is no longer enforced.
And the tourist ban in The Netherlands is still under debate, at this point it certainly has not been voted down. And the reason they want to ban tourists from smoking weed here is not monetary it is because people keep coming here getting high and then causing trouble. The biggest culprit of this being the brits.
Indeed, when I was over there last on business people where saying that they'd like to restrict the use of the cafes and bordellos to the locals.
I think its a case of a pressure release valve. When you have the option to legally do something every night, you don't feel the need to binge quite so much as when these people come on holiday.
Drink, lots of Drink, drugs and sex are a recipe for disaster, if you are repressed!
Amsterdam is just Dineyland for adults :) My fave place in the world.

Top place, going back soon.
Right,
melon, why is it that you are trying to spark off an argument with Madduck and TheAnimus?
If this falls down into another row between members action WILL be taken this time around with all parties involved.
Please be considerate towards other members when posting.
Thanks

No,
Aiming remarks that could be taken the wrong way by another user could end up causing another mass argument and thread need tidying up like previous threads where this has happened.
Simple as that.
Biscuit, the Mods will wield the Banhammer only as a last resort, we are still very hopeful that self moderation and common sense will prevail.
Just be nice, thats all.
Ban Hammer!! Bah!!

I've smoked a fair bit of weed in my time. Always enjoyed the inititial hit, never enjoyed the paranoia afterwards.
So fair enough, it's not for me. I've never understood why I should object to anyone else smoking it....
Eventually common sense will win the 'war on drugs'. It'll take a while, but we'll get there.

Actually, this IS a hammer :p
:-)
I'm still bemused why people think alcohol makes everyone violent. It doesn't. Some people fall asleep, some crack bad jokes, (which I guess could cause a fight if bad enough) some people wanna play guitar hero for hours. Some gett hungry. Some get sad and cry ceaselessly . Some want to use a strimmer in their flip flops ( granted might end up in casualty ) and some need cheese and crackers immediately
Some even CUT THE NOSE OFF THE BRIE ( most likely to cause a fight, granted)
Some people need a ciggy after a few drinks
Some want to play "text all your friends " all night
The thing about alcohol is that it tends to let out, whatever is hidden inside. It does sometimes skew the result but often for the better ( "I was gonna beat crap outta him but I've had a few cold ones and can't be arsed now tbh"
So I think everyone should stop going on about alcohol ..... And ban red bull, monster and all the other sugary caffeine added tubes of thick treacle crap that young kids think make them look cool
They don't. They are sugar and rubbish with a label. If Tate and Lyle made one with a picture of a penis on it wouldn't sell but would do the same thing
Wow Zakk.. I am not even sure where to start here.
First of all, what do you expect an energy drink to contain? If I need an instant boost of energy I'll be after simple carbs. Doesn't really matter of the source, whether it is chocolate, Red Bull, or plain white sugar (when I was a kid, that's what I'd take on skii trips since it was the "free" option), it'll get burned out fast enough in the next couple of hours. My teeth's are fine, and so is my weight and body fat. The body at the end of the day, the body *needs* carb to function, and sometime that massive bowl of pasta you had before your big day is not enough.
Secondly, let's do a little label comparison: 12oz of Red Bull (http://www.fatsecret.com/calories-nu...d-bull-(12-oz)) vs 12oz of Heineken Beer (http://www.fatsecret.com/calories-nu.../heineken-beer). In terms of caloric content, there is hardly any difference. But isn't it interesting that with 12g of combined carb and protein, we end up with 150 cal in the beer (1g of protein/carb = 4 calories). Well, alcohol is 7 calories each, pretty dense overall (almost as much as fat at 9g). Unlike carb and fat, you can't "walk it off" (for a start, it impairs your abilities to exercise). You just have to wait for your liver to break it down. Now this won't matter to most people here as it is more prevalent to people with East Asian genes - which technically is still a pretty large portion of the world's population - but some people do not have the enzyme to break alcohol effectively. To those people alcohol is about as toxic as it can be. And yet due to the whole drinking culture prevalent worldwide, East-Asians *still* drink because to fit in. Tthis is quite frankly worse than kid's wanting to show off.
Speaking of kid's though. Last time I checked (though I may be out of touch with the youth's of today), alcohol is *still* FAR "cooler" than energy drink. Alcopop is also quite popular with teens/young adults (and probably some older ones too). Looking at the label (http://www.fatsecret.com/calories-nu...f/ice-original) it has almost as much of the sugar, and quite a bit more calories. Then there is all those drinks where you mix the alcohol with soft drink with about as much sugar as Red Bull anyway.
Now I have to go, so I do not have the time to do a comparison between alcohol and caffeine. But really, when was the last time you heard someone getting hospitalised because they had too many espressos? Alcohol is simply a more toxic. I've frankly not even heard of anti-social behaviour as a result of caffeine intake. The thing is, sure people may react differently from the consumption of alcohol. But negative behaviour is not exactly uncommon relatively speaking.
I am not even saying ban alcohol (though I wouldn't shed a single tear if it was). I do believe that adults should have a choice in living the way they want. But don't kid yourself, amongst one of the worst thing you can legally put into your body.
If only George Lucas had smoked more weed when he was doing all that re-editing....
I would bought all 3 if he'd reedited it all like this

Well I'm not pro nor anti smoking weed, despite what I do for a living. Alcohol in moderation is fine, does no one any real and lasting harm, in fact it's proportionally safe. Weed however has the potential to permanently alter the way the mind works from the first joint, causing lifelong trauma.
As with anything, booze, caffeine, sugar, all in moderation, all ok, but with weed and other drugs, it's a bit like Russian roulette. Just my opinion.
Llama vs Moose, who would win?
Cite your information source please.
Yes long term or heavy use of weed has potential health problems such as cancer the same as smoking.
Also alcohol consumption carries the potential of permanent liver damage.
IMO saying Alcohol causes no lasting harm is sheer hogwash as is saying weed starts causing damage from the first time it's smoked.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-12616543 is one (not in itself authorative - but does cite other studies)
Somewhat more authoratitive
http://bjp.rcpsych.org/content/184/2/110.full
yes but that is a study over a 10 year period it says nothing about weed being damaging from the very first joint.
The fact weed is damaging after long term use is well documented.
Sure, me. It's what I do. Drug induced psychosis is my bread and butter so-to-speak.

I tried them all when i was younger, well not heroin! LSD was great fun! Had some good nights out. But if you got a brain left after them days, then you know they don't quite fit into our life's
Seen many a pal slip into the no return, and a few have died. R.I.P
Give me booze any day. Yep its a drug and so are fags, but where do we stop?
I have lost more friends to booze than any other drug, shortly followed by cancer from smoking.
The main thing to note again is moderation, and age.
Alcohol abuse is very common with the 12-20 bracket, despite the extra-negative effects it has on their health due to youth.
The issue for me is simple, why don't we ban the penut. We don't need it, and some people will die a horrible scary death upon their first peanut.
KIDS JUST SAY NO.
