With the rise in messages over data like iMessage, WhatsApp, BBM its no surprise of the decline in the SMS service. However I don't think we will see the back of it. It will always still be there. Like email
Happy Birthday Text Message. Beep Beep. Beep Beep.
But operators have really shifted to providing 'unlimited' txt messages of late. Find a contract with a good amount of data, that doesn't offer 1,000+ txts?
Also with things like the new smilie standard switching to unicode means you kinda need them. Airplane, Love Eyes, Beer is enough to be two text messages pretty much.

Yeah, I meant decline as in people using it (Monday morning, not woken up yet!). I remember my first text bundles. 50 free texts was a lot!
Yeah, thats the weird thing, I'll have a day or two when I send no SMS. Then a day when I'll send 100+ (often joined messages)

Ahh WAP. I had the Nokia 7110 one of the first WAP browser capable phones. Used Natwest service on it, then they closed it and gave me £50 for the inconvenience. Have to say though the Natwest iPhone App is miles apart from anything else.
Got a bit OTT with Planetarion at college, being able to play over WAP was ace - ended up getting an Ericsson R320 to accompany my T28 purely for the bigger screen for WAP, which was a bit silly.
