    How about some Jazz?

The jazz legend Dave Burbeck has died at 91. I hate most of these RIP threads as people die every day. The thing is, in my mind what a great innings that man had, so I thought it worth sharing one of his more famous pieces with you unwashed prolies.

Without looking it up, my fave album : Take Five, Blue Rondo, Kathy's Waltz, Pick up Sticks, Three to get Ready .... all real gems... and with Gerry Mulligan on Sax - the DB Trio was simply inspired.

This is indeed a sad day for us Jazzophiles
    Cheers, David

I could listen to that bloke's music for hours. It's the devil to actually play though! Sad to see him go but everyone has their time.

    Re: How about some Jazz?

I was gonna criticise you for posting a rubbishrubbishrubbishrubbishy version of Take Five, but I let it play, and the classic melody kicks in at the end.

My parents made me attend a recorder group on Saturday mornings at a local museum (convinced I'd be a musical genius I guess), so I learned Take Five on the descant recorder at the age of about 10. I nailed it too! I've never heard another piece in 5/4 that is actualy good IMO; take Money by Pink Floyd as example of how not to do it

Gotta love it when they tease you. Jazz ultimately is music for those who like foreplay.

No, apologies from me - the short 'x is amazing!' type post was rather reminiscent of some posts we've had lately from people just looking for threads to post anything in without actually reading the topic. That's clearly not the case with you Welcome to Hexus, good to have you.
