Dibs on your stuff.
Confirmed Hoax
It is her but it is part of a prank radio station promotion.
TBH I think that while it may be funny it's rather irresponsible, there are people out there that will take it as true because a person of authority has said it and they will overreact.
Read the signs http://contenderministries.org/prophecy/endtimes.php this will open your eyes to the TRUTH
Tenuous...
I wish people would actually look at the Mayan prophecy properly. The December 2012 thing is the end of an Epoch, not the end of the world. According to Mayan legends, there will be 5 epochs, each of 4-5000 years. We are just reaching the end of the 3rd epoch. So if you want to give away your stuff feel free.
I'm still a little disappointed there were no major computing disasters in 2000

The Mayans were skilled astronomers but they sacrificed children and didn't predict their own demise. As Smudger has alluded, the whole thing has been blown out of context.
With respect, the Church and many other religious people have been pointing to signs of the End Times for centuries.

Natural selection at work.
However, although the end of the world is forecast to be in several billions of years, when the expanding and dying sun engulfs it, there is some debate about what will actually happen

Who knows? Evolution is what it says, and extinction of a species is part of the evolutionary process.. There is no known law of nature to say we the pinnacle of evolution. Our species may become extinct unless, like any other species, we adapt to meet change. Where our species has a better chance is the way we control - to some extent - our environment and our use of technology.
However, that technology has lead to a situation where the size of the human race is only sustainable with it.. If a situation arose where all electricity generation stopped, the number of humans would decrease quite rapidly.
And the number of humans is the greatest threat to us as a species, and one that is ignored. Forget the hand-wringing conferences on climate change, and start worrying about population control.
But as ever, I expect that problem will solve itself because some natural disaster will befall our planet - earthquake, volcanic eruption, meterorite impact or similar.

I get the impression earth is either a very bad or good place to exist .
If reincarnation does exists or the afterlife ( which I believe in some form it does ) then there must be a reason more " souls " are choosing to come to here to be born rather than somewhere else? (unless its the same on other worlds somewhere , or we dont have a choice )
OR
All those animals we are killing happens to reincarnate as people ( fits in with Buddhist concept at least - esp in terms of balance / karma )

Any fruitcake that believes that drivel should be give the job of village idiot.
People actually believe that something pretend, that lives in people's imagination, and has had a book out telling these tales, is coming to strike us down.
Hopefully when he does arrive it will be on a rainbow coloured unicorn spitting fire out of its arse.
