    Scan leaving Hexus?

Now the Title wasn't created to stir up any controversy I just couldn't think of anything better to call it!

    http://forums.scan.co.uk/

I see Scan have just setup their own forum, so does this mean the Hexus partnership will be winding down soon, or do we think this has been created so people don't have to register with Hexus when they're only posting/wanting information that's Scan related?

Maybe more control over content? I don't know. (Mods if this in the wrong area move as you wish Again wasn't sure where to put this!)

    Re: Scan leaving Hexus?

I hope that it doesn't mean that. I don't usually trust forums that are run by retailers as I have seen some retailers delete unfavourable threads about their business and only leave those threads that praise them or have their customers supporting each other. Some even delete the negative threads about the closest channel partners which is also a concern for me. I'd be happier to know that a retailer does find that sometimes customers have issues but then see that they have an excellent approach or customer service and work with their customers in order to overcome the issues.

Personally I don't want to Scan leave, I just want to see them get better and for them to grow as they improve.

    Re: Scan leaving Hexus?

Am I the only one who finds Scan's willingness to discuss RMA's in open forums a bit bizzarre.

No one will gain from this and ultimately anyone thinking about buying anything from Scan only has to browse that section and will instantly have second thoughts about dealing with them at all.

Why aren't these threads closed to the customer and Scan support. It seems absolutely insane that you would hang up your laundry to dry in public where everyone can see and extract their own conclusions even if you as a company think that you are squeeky clean, individual perception will not be so kind.

Some of the threads on those forums were created in September. I dont think SCAN would leave Hexus or rather certainly hope they wouldn't.

    Re: Scan leaving Hexus?

Scan has a number of forums to facilitate ease of access for customers. Along with that one and the one on here, there's also one's on AVForums and Bit-tech. It doesn't mean they're going anywhere.

I'm not so sure about that.

I'm not Scan's greatest fan, by any stretch of the imagination, but I think that their willingness to discuss it in public does them credit, precisely because most don't. It just requires anyone reading it to be aware that no retailer of any size can ever please all their customers all the time, not least because sometimes, the customer simply isn't right, or doesn't have reasonable expectations. Of course, sometimes the retailer isn't right, either.

As for whether they're leaving HEXUS, I have no information, and I mean NO information at all, either way. It has not been mentioned to me, so either it isn't happening, or if it is, I haven't been told .... and by the way, wouldn't expect to be told.

    Re: Scan leaving Hexus?

They were talking about a Scan forum on their Facebook page the other day - everyone just replied with some Hexus loving.
Kalniel: "Nice review Tarinder - would it be possible to get a picture of the case when the components are installed (with the side off obviously)?"
CAT-THE-FIFTH: "The Antec 300 is a case which has an understated and clean appearance which many people like. Not everyone is into e-peen looking computers which look like a cross between the imagination of a hyperactive 10 year old and a Frog."
TKPeters: "Off to AVForum better Deal - £20+Vat for Free Shipping @ Scan"
for all intents it seems to be the same card minus some gays name on it and a shielded cover ? with OEM added to it - GoNz0.

Indeed, publicly showing that you have problems should be a good sign for anyone with sense, sadly a lot of people lack sense and view it as a bad thing, particularly PR types.

Personally, I seriously mistrust anything that has a large number of only positive reviews from the public for just the reason that a lot of the time the "complaints" tend to be user stupidity rather than either vendor or item fault.

eBay is a good example of this, you can see countless negative feedbacks where the seller says, or maybe claims, they tried to resolve it, but you do just get the feeling the buyer went straight from delivery to negative feedback without even trying to contact the seller.

    Much obliged.

What I meant was, as a forum admin, I have no knowledge of anything in the pipeline, if indeed there is anything in the pipeline, and that while it's possible I'd be told at some point prior to public knowledge, I wouldn't expect to be told, and wouldn't be at all surprised if I found out after it became public.

That is to say, I know nothing of it, but nothing much can be read into that, one way or the other.
