I know we've done this before, but it's been a while and I think it's always interesting to hear people's stories..
So, why did you join the forums & why are you still here? What have you got out of it?
I was a lurker for a while and my previous go-to forum shutdown, so i needed somewhere new.![]()
Kalniel: "Nice review Tarinder - would it be possible to get a picture of the case when the components are installed (with the side off obviously)?"
CAT-THE-FIFTH: "The Antec 300 is a case which has an understated and clean appearance which many people like. Not everyone is into e-peen looking computers which look like a cross between the imagination of a hyperactive 10 year old and a Frog."
TKPeters: "Off to AVForum better Deal - £20+Vat for Free Shipping @ Scan"
for all intents it seems to be the same card minus some gays name on it and a shielded cover ? with OEM added to it - GoNz0.

Recommended by a friend, and I found I had some expertise in some of the hardware/software threads that some people seemed to find helpful.
I did find the GD section very cliquey and unfriendly when I joined; after a couple of unpleasant comments I kept clear, but I think the atmosphere here is now much more inclusive.

I was a mate of Tony Potts (via UK astro imaging), who ran a small IT review site, and I'd done a few reviews of cameras for him. When he said he was closing down, he recommended that I join HEXUS.
After I joined I had a long quiet patch, but came back recently and the rest you know.

I was a Moderator on a site called Tweakers Asylum over 10 years ago (May be as long as around 12 - 14 years), the site had become quiet and was looking like it was going to shut down so I started looking about the net to see if there was another tech site I could frequent.
Stumbled across HEXUS and joined up. After being here a few weeks I gave someone a shout, think it may have actually been David, can't remember and asked if any Mods were needed and I started modding here.
At the time when I first joined I was named Grendel and my avatar was Calvin (from Calvin & Hobbes fame) with the yellow background. Last year after all this time I gave Zak a shout saying I would like to become Admin here on the boards which was then put to David and the rest of the Admin crew and I was promoted up after all the years of service
In 2003 the entire forum was wiped and when I re registered I decided to take the name Ferral and became a mod again after a few emails to David explaining I had changed my name.
Little fun fact :
That guy that likes to Spam the forums with a gazillion posts, you know the one.....Mr Zak33
I was the one that initially recommended him to be a moderator at HEXUS back in the day!

I was looking for advice for a first build back in 2005. Everyone was very helpful, so I stuck around, randomly posting nonsense...

I had started to get into computers and modding then and stumbled upon Hexus whilst searching pc related things and joined up. It was my first tech forum.

Like most here I have a passion for technology. I have been regularly reading this site for years, before I realised I was missing out on the forum with the potential for free postal delivery from Scan!! Just took advantage of it already!! Also you have regular competetions which is always nice.
Still here because I would like to potentially buy and sell in the classified's section, although a long way to go.

Hexus was recommended by a friend.
I was a Moderator over at overclockers and spie got some burr up his butt about "his mods should not be members over here" That disgusted me so I left overclockers and stayed here.

GSV used to have their forums hosted at Hexus and I kinda just hung around ever since!

It was 6 years ago so I've no idea, only started using my account this month to try to get the free delivery from Scan.
Tbh, there's not been a great deal of posts I've felt like commenting on but I've definitely learned a few things that have made me make changes to my intended build that I planned out 2 months ago!

To be honest, I have always bought stuff from Scan, and came here via a link from their site. Spotted the free delivery and stuck around like a bad smell.
