    Talking Smilies!

i appreciate it takes a lot of work to run hexus but you did ask for feedback, so is it possible to have some different smilies please?

These ones are free to use -

they're not spectacular, but i think they're better than the current ones, maybe when i'm not so busy i can have a go at creating some of my own, or alternatively someone with a mediocum of artistic talent could have a go at our own hexus smilie set!

The 3D smilies from UBB 5.x were the best imo, like that green big grin up there.

heh, they're better than the ones at the moment, and they're free. i think it'd be cool to have out own hexus ones if anyone wants to make some, i'd have a go, but i'm more than a tad busy at the moment, and i also lack any artistic talent!

I'd be more than happy if the management added the  :lmao: :lmfao: etc smileys I posted a while back

They are needed to express laughter and emotion more than any other smiley IMO

I have to admit, the current ones - although useful enough - are a bit pale.
I think it would be nice to have some in-house hexus ones made up!

I like the current ones, they look more proffesional, but with a bit of playing most of the old ones could be made to match

I'm not sure, I think I would prefer ones that fit more smoothly with the new site layout

I like the current ones also... They're simple and to the point. If it is so necessary to have smilies to 'explain' what the writer is hoping to get across, why not just spend more time and thought writing the message rather than hunt around for animated pictures...

most of the information content in conversation is not contained within the words that are spoken but by the tone of voice, body language etc, for example, it can sometimes be difficult to distinguish between a malicious insult or a light hearted quip in mere words alone, smilies help to serve this purpose. they also help to brighten up the boards, a little light heartedness is a good thing in my opinion. a lot of hard work has gone into making these new boards, and lots of the time has been spent on cosmetic changes, and i think the smilies let down the design element of them down. also passages of text, such as this, become tiresome on the eye, or at least for me they do, broken with little animated pictures, is for me, easier to read.
