How do you maintain a 'clear skin' for your face ?

So, guys & girls ( if we have any girl Hexites ! ), how do you maintain that zit-free, mark-free face of yours and make sure you continue to look like a Hollywood superstar ?

Share your secret regimens or whatever that you use.

    Here are my recommendations :
    - For zits, use OXY Benzoyl peroxide cream
    - For teenage zits, use 99% pure Aloe vera gel ( Holland & Barrett )
    - For marks left behind by zits that have gone away, use 10UMF Manuka honey as a mask once everyday / Use 30% Glycolic acid once every week / Use Clean & Clear lemon facewash

And as regards clear skin, I'm a real man I use brick to sand my face every night. Mind you, it does explain why I look like the back end of a housing estate.....

When I was at school, the kids who used OXY, in a bid to look mature, were the ones who got zits the worst. I just used soap and water, and only had the odd eruption. I think it doesn't matter what you use, zits are a genetic thing.

Changing my diet had a big impact on skin quality for me!

Benzoyl peroxide, as recommended by xkcd. Although I'm currently on the Tesco own-brand rather than Oxy.

Diet has a massive effect. I never had many spots as a teenager, until I left home. My mum's heavy use of 5+ veg a day, without fail.

Then I started cooking for myself at uni........ I found growing the hair helped rather than shaving it.

As it finds if I'm somewhat hot and humid, no matter what I do my skin will go red. Electric shavers, such as the elecent panasonics help a bit.

    Agreed.

Anything aggressive like spot creams/oil-stripping face washes tend to either dry my face or make spots worse or both, but I have fairly sensitive skin so the same might not apply to everyone.

A better diet combined with a very mild facewash of a morning, just a wet flannel of an evening works great for me. Washing too often just strips oils from your skin, which increases production, making things worse. If I eat something like pizza with lots of dairy/fat, my face becomes noticeably more greasy within the hour.

Also, I agree with TheAnimus about using an electric shaver.

Re: How do you maintain a 'clear skin' for your face ?

As some others have said, a correct diet is essential. The only other thing I do is plenty of soap and water, morning and night, and perhaps during the day if I get too hot and sticky. But then, my zitty phase was a very long time ago.

For hyperpigmentation, i.e. after zit marks, use Dr. Organic's Royal Jelly , available in Holland & Barretts. It brightens the skin and also fades marks.

    Been helping me a lot

    Update :

After trying plenty of off-the-counter products, I can confirm that this is the best approach for getting rid of hyperpigmentation marks.

    - Scrub gently with soap & Bravura London Microdermabrasion towel
    - 30% Glycolic acid twice a week and not on the same day that you use the towel
    - 10UMF Manuka honey
    - At night, use the Nivea night regeneration face cream. Pretty cheap and effective

    Oxytetracycline is rumoured to assist.
Failing that, worship the complexion of Robert Davi and become a rich, famous Hollywood actor.
