    opticians + zeiss iScripton

As someone who has been using specsavers for the past few years I am to say the least fed up of the crap they sell, 3 times i went back last time and ended up with prism (or shifting the lens a bit) before giving up and deciding not to go back again.

I am now looking at my options and notice vision express offer custom Zeiss Individual lenses, I assume they are done via the I scription machine ?

anyway, wondering what other people are wearing after running a mile from specsavers & if any hexites wear zeiss in there specs ?

Sadly not, last pair i bought and are currently using are Nikon lenses from D&A before they moved into boots, not been back for a few years now so couldn't say if they still do them.

    Re: opticians + zeiss iScripton

Is there much benefit to this? I just got two pairs of glasses from specsavers with their 60 quid lense option on each, came to 240 total, whole reason was to get all the measurements done properly. Don't mind spending more if it makes a big difference. Do you know what indexes they come in?

    Re: opticians + zeiss iScripton

Once you read all the stuff from Zeiss it does sound good, probably the same as when i got the sony zeiss lens over the stock sony one, IQ was fantastic, CA almost gone, superb contrast..

my specsavers lenses are crap, night time halo's poor contrast and to top it all off last week I caught the light just right to see the coating wasn't flat it was like orange peel and starting to craze like poor paintwork, no wonder the visions not very good. you get what you pay for, utter crap

vision express prices now include standard lenses, i went for the 1st thinner option that comes with the standard set of zeiss coatings, anti reflection, hard coating and anti static, dust and dirt repeling as part of the bundle, they also threw in uv and tint on the 2nd pair. basically it cost another £200 on top of the standard prices per pair of lenses.

as for index, i assume they cover the standard range.

have a read and see what you think

    Re: opticians + zeiss iScripton

small follow up, I now have Seiko lenses as the Zeiss were nothing but trouble. 1st time I didn't like the frames so I took up the offer to swap frames, they did that and I could only look straight ahead of focus went. turns out this was an error in the BVD so they exchanged the lenses.

after that i noticed a couple of blurred parts and as the light hit in a certain way you could see a gentle wave patten due to bad coatings, they tried to blame this on me leaving them in direct sunlight and said it was a crazing effect, so I used my phone to show them a google image of crazing, called them a few choice names and demanded a manager who agreed to swap them again.

next ones also had a couple of patches of blur...

I was then given the choice of waiting for Zeiss that would take a month as Vision express no longer partner with Zeiss, The alternative was Seiko.

I got remeasured to find out my PD was 1mm out so I passed them my sunnies as well and told them to do both.

this got me £120 back and double aspheric lenses.

    Best ones yet!

They did last time I went. I rather like the Nikon lenses, they seem to just work.

I got my eyes lasered. Did the trick & I'm thankful that I haven't needed to bother with glasses since. Last pair I had though I got from SS.... they were umm.... rubbish. Ended up going to a real optician and spending about £200 on a new pair of specs

at least these days your not tied to the optician that did the testing and can shop around for frames etc that you like me personally I use a local company that just supply glasses and don't do the testing side of things and the last pair of glasses I had were Porsche design and cost only £50 odd with prescription lenses
