I want to switch to some sort of mild shampoo for a while to see what my hair is like when it's not drowned in Head & Shoulders. I'm paranoid I get dandruff every now and then because I only use head & shoulders.
Anyone here a Shampoo guru?

I just bulk purchase tresseme. *shrugs*
Dove works for me.
A lot of others, especially "medicated" shampoos can give me a really itchy head and very dry skin. I picked up a bottle of Tesco anti-dandruff shampoo and conditioner and it gives me a really dry forehead and face. Stopped using it now. Need to get some more Dove next time I'm at the shops.

Lush's solid shampoo works well for me - just like bar of soap you rub on your hair, but seems to last ages. Simple shampoo is another one I use. Perfumes etc tend to irritate my scalp.
I just use the wives shampoo. think it is treseme.
I just ensure I give it a good scrub and always condition after it. scrubb off all the dead skin and soften the scalp with conditioner.
seems to work for me.
Try to find something free of SLS/SLES and free from anything sounding like sulfate in the ingredients.
I used to get dandruff when I was younger and started using head & shoulders, I used it for years. Recently I have used other ones and not had a problem. I usually use those combined shampoo and shower gel ones now, the dove ones are nice.
Might be worth a try, but it's not necessarily a reaction to SLS - there are milder shampoos available than H&S. Other surfactants are available, but they're far less commonly used.
It's possible to get natural body washes/shampoos which don't lather at all, but they're awkward to use (think, trying to get washed with a mashed banana) and IMO don't do much of a better job of cleaning you than plain water (tried a few samples). Based on the ingredients list of some natural shampoos, you're essentially buying a bottle of fruit smoothie. By all means try it, but unless you have very short hair, I'd have a bottle of your regular stuff on standby.
I usually just buy any old stuff that says 'for frequent use' as I usually have a shower every morning. I've found many of the popular named brands to be too strong for frequent use.
Try Pantene products......always seem good to me
Man up and use soap.
It's probably a little different for everyone, but I suspect that the scalp "gets used to" most pattern after enough time. For instance, I am used to washing my hair every day and it itch a little if I skip a day, and more if I skip two (and etc.). I think many women with long hair avoid washing their hair daily, presumably because it's a pain and they are fine. On the extreme, people with dreadlocks only wash their hair once per month or longer if I remember correctly. As I understand, it's pretty uncomfortable at first, but the scalp eventually get used to it.
To answer to the question, I've become less fussy about shampoo brands nowadays (my hair is pretty normal nowadays - though it wasn't always this way), but I am very keen on mint shampoo. Right now I use Mintvell Marine Blue, but I am not sure if it's sold outside Japan. It's pretty awesome if you need to cool down (hot summer) or wake up
