99% of the time you only save 7p as it never applies to cars etc where they take the mick with their prices.

Yeah, normally it only applies to the insertion fees. I've noticed that these days if you list an item at £0.99 or below, insertion fees are sometimes free by default, or only a few pence.
You really get stung on the final value fee, and the Paypal fees, which free listing days do nothing about.
I doubt they've stopped though, they're probably a decent tactic for eBay to create a bit of a buzz from time to time without having to spend too much.
