Apparently the vatican is unhappy with new zealand plans to grant any couple living in a defactor (or common-law) relationship the same rights as any married couple.

Yeah, but who (in their right mind) cares what a gibbering old man with a seriously cool mobile toilet says?

So let me get this straight. The pope doesn't want people who live together to have the same rights as married couples?

    That's just stupid!

Indeed, it sounds so stupid. I mean why not? If you're "just" living together might mean that you're going to get married or that you're not ready to take that huge step..or maybe you just don't wanna get married because some reason..

    That sucks! Stupid pope!

The pope* has the same interesting views on Gays (abomination to the bible), Contraception (every sperm is sacred), Woman (eve the original harlot), Nazi Gold (ker<>ching, blind eye), etc.....

What he says sometimes is good, peace, etc and mostly is offensive BS.....

He'll be dead soon. It's only daily blood transfusions keeping him going. If you think the next pope will be any better though, then I reckon you'll be disappointed.

Remember kids- condoms don't stop HIV. The Vatican said it so it must be true right?

I thought it was the SA prime minister! could've been quoting his popeness tho!

    I think it's ridiculous that I can't marry my girlfriend in a church as a) I haven't been baptised and b) I don't attend church.
In fact - I haven't been to church in about 20 years - and neither has anybody in my direct family.

Why should you expect to marry your girlfriend in a church if you havent been for 20 years .

Churches are not exactly designed or maintained just so you can have a nice place to get married .

    of course they are!
I don't particularly want to - I'd rather get married in the chapel on my favourite vinyard. But, as you should be well aware - blokes have absolutely no say in any descisions about weddings - it's not my call... but I'm not going to pretend to have any interest in the church or organised religion just to do that.

btw - privatepyle - love the pic!

Yeah but if the church aint going to let you then it doesnt make much difference what your girlfriend/family want .

You might have to get baptised

To be honest what your saying about the pope is slighty offenisve too, everyone has their own opinion on things and if its not the same as your own learn to accept it or shut up , dont resort to petty insults.

I'm glad someone else thinks the same as me. Why should people who live together have the same status as marriage? It just like saying a bloke who doesn't have a driving license who has driven illegally for many years should be granted a driving license.
