just wondering what the limit is on importing for free

firstly is it 27 or 28?

secondly is it 27 or 28 dollers ? or pounds worth



also whats 27/28 quid in dollers?

I've had parcel's marked up at £32 worth come through import tax free, the p&p charged by the site doesn't factor into it either so it can be £30 worth of goods and £15 delivery and you still won't get charged, As far as the exchange rate goes just limit yourself to about $60 and you should be fine.

theres EMS and airmail


airmail being normal post.....EMS being traceable, but its quite a bit more for EMS....is it worth it ? i imagine it being like first class, and recorded......anyone had any past with these know if airmails good enough? or is it likely to get lost

according to the customs and excise website its £18 before you get import duty slapped on it, but it all depends on whats in the package.

iirc hottopic use airmail and I've never lost anything, I'd be tempted by the traceable one though if its availdable

From HM customs
If you purchase goods through the Internet you should be aware that Customs duty and VAT will be payable, as follows;

Customs duty - if the amount of duty is £7 and over; and
Import VAT - if the value of the goods is £18 and over



Basically you dont pay any charges if its value is under £18, or £36 if its a gift (currently £36 as the amount is set in euro, birthday, xmas tye gift, not a weekly gift) sent by an indevidual that is declared as a gift and is for another indevidual.
