Student cards
Where can i get a student card? The UGC cinema near me wont accept my 'student nework login card', well it depends on the person at the desk. Ive heard about these Connexions cards and NUS cards, but where can i get one, ive had no luck on either site as they are both broken.
Cheers

you can normally get NUS cards at colleges and universities.
i got mine from the student union at my college, just took them a passport photo and they got it all made up from me :)
-
You can get a NUS card from your College/University. Ask there.
-
i got my student ID at uni, it's not an NUS card tho, it's just a card with my DOB and name and uni and pic on it, nothing exciting. Just ask at ur college uni and they should be able to point you in the right direction

I have a photo I.D. college card, what can i use it for?
-
Proof that you attend college?
-
Ask at the college reception if theres a student union. Ask there, join the union and get a NUS card.

Given this site a whirl?
http://www.nusonline.co.uk/
I have 2 cards for my UNI...my swipe card with photo on it which acts as a Student card for most places...and also the actual NUS card, which doesn't have a photo but some places want to see that over others.

this sucks
my new NUS card, is a uni card combined, just has NUS wrote on it
as its not a proper one, like they issued last year, and every year before ( new ones come into play this year) theyve been saying we cant accept it at HMV, as its a uni card and doesnt bear their logo, therefore do not have to give a discount :(
also, if you want a proper one, you need to pay 7/8 quid, grr

ISIC cards are the waya forward apparently. £7 for an international recognised student card. Also if these places are not accepting your cards tell them to expect calls from the student union etc asking why not.

hey tom where did u get ure proper nus card from??? i was told that our swipe cards are nus cards but i havent been told we need another one
the swipe card has the NUS symbol on it...

If you don't hold an NUS card, nusonline card or NUS Associate card - either because you're not a student or your union isn't affiliated to NUS - sorry, but you can't use some of these services.
Seems that only certain unions can give you a bonafide nus card, i know mine dont (staffordshire) just a photocard with the nus logo on it.ie just proof that i'm a student.
HMV gave me a HMV student card tho, and mcDonalds gave me a MD student card
Most places seem to take my card astho it was an nus card :)

I just got mine from my college :S But i don't think it was an NUS one i used it at UGC and all other places fine :)
I am not a student no longer though :( I have to pay full price now
Does not stop me trying with my old out of date card though
