...for there you have been, and there you will always long to return.

Hasn't the weather this summer just been plane amazing?

Last year I made the mistake of spending most of the summer abroad, coming back to the awful autumn and winter we had, making me long for foreign realms!

I'm pretty sure there wasn't a summer last year. The fruit crop was terrible thanks to a sharp frost just at the height of spring. All the blossom died, pissing it down on the day of my wedding aswell (mid June!!)

This summer has been reasonable for a change, which has been very welcome.

    Edit: Nice pic btw...

I had only moved over last year, so when I experienced the weather last year, I kind of assumed this is how it's going to be moving forward.
I do however vaguely remember a few warm nights around the time of the Olympics.
But yes, the weather has been awesome these last few days, Beautiful blue skies and there was not even one cloud in the sky on Saturday.

Summer last year was practically non existant up here and after the long winter this year i did'nt hold much hope for this summer. How wrong i was. It's been a cracker. Even today we are forecast 20 degrees and that's very unusual up here. Usually mid-end of September it's like someone flicks a switch and it goes from warm (never as warm as this though) to cold overnight and the heating has to go on. Can't see that happening this year though.

Re: ...for there you have been, and there you will always long to return.

Spent 4 nights in Scarborough last week (watching Yorkshire forget how to bat ), and the weather was unbelievable. I had to buy a hat to make sure people didn't mistake my head for a letter box. Also taned for the first time - advantage of going on a baltic cruise and getting acclimated to the sun early in the year. Yet bizarrely, the first of September came along and suddenly it was autumn.

    Been a great summer though.

Still feels like a latesummers day today. Maybe that is just an advantage of not been up north!

probably, it's been pretty grey the last two days up here. Not particularly cold or nasty, just grey. Definitely feels like summer's gone though.

I keep expecting the weather to completely turn and get really horrible, but then we have a day like today (which I'm missing as I'm offshore) with 28degC temperatures!

    Outstanding for the NE Scotland.

Just back from Arizona, feels cold round here even at 25C. You kinda get used to 40C+ in the shade.

I know what you mean. I spent 7 weeks working in Nigeria a number of years ago. At one point I commented that it was a pretty cold day, was actually 25degC instead of the normal 35-40, it is amazing what you get used to.
