I just signed up with Silverstreet for a bulk SMS marketing campaign I'll be doing for a business site in the next few weeks, and I was wondering if anyone here has any experience or thoughts about this type of marketing? Never tried it before.

People who use this method of marketing go to the special hell.

Getting messages at 3am, waking you up because you're keeping an ear open for an important call, is a sure way to get me to completely avoid anything to do with the company, and report them for unsolicited marketing to the operator.
TBH I can't think why anyone would pay any attention to random spam they receive through SMS because some unscrupulous company sold their details to spamming companies.
It's a terrible idea and probably a waste of money to use them.
rubbish idea, it's not 90s anymore

Text marketing works great only if done right. You can piss off a lot of people. In 90's people did it illegally now theres laws and compliance. When I help a customer get into text marketing with my consulting firm we train them and refer them to this site, (Mods removed) I dont recommend you start using this marketing outlet if you dont know anything about it.

oh and fyi, dont make the mistake of using a company that does not follow compliance or have a registered short code and using only SMS technology to send the messages. I almost had a stick situation one time because i used a company called textmarks.
Don't make the mistake of using this at all, anyone who gets an SMS from a company that's not supposed to have thier number is not about to use that company for anything. Most of the time people would assume it's a scam anyway.
