Anyone on Tesco Mobile wants to recommend me as a friend ?

It seems I keep needing new friends

Get a friend to join Tesco Mobile Pay monthly to earn 1,000 points ( £10 in Clubcard vouchers )
    - There is no limit to how many friends you can recommend
    - Get your friend to call 0800 022 4030 to join
    - Tell them to quote the word 'FRIEND' and your mobile phone number

So, you get £10 in Tesco points.

I believe Saracen's point is that Tesco's site almost certainly has some additional definition of who you can count as a friend, that did not get brought acxross in your quote. It might be worth linking the page the quote came from so people can see the full terms & conditions...

    * Your friend must stay connected for at least 2 months, and pay each bill in full.

So, is anyone on Tesco Mobile ???

it MIGHT be worth stopping whoring ya good self for £10 of Clubcard points on a site where we kill spammers for such dubious antics

    So.. lets be clear......

go find "Tesco friends" (/In betweeneners thumbs up, squeaky voice) in the real world and pls stop trying to earn £10 of Teco points here. Cos .. it's just....not ... right!

    ???
I don't earn the Clubcard points. The person who is already on Tesco Mobile earns the points. I am just being a good samaritan. I am holding off from signing a contract with Tesco just so that I can help out a fellow Hexite.

Dam someone is trying to do someone a favour and he gets a crapping out for it. He gets nothing in return so please get your facts right before you open your mouth.

While I agree with the principle of your comment, it might not be wise to use that kind of language towards a Hexus admin.

We have a tough job keeping actually spammers, scammers and trolls off the forum, so it can hurt a bit when it looks like regular members are doing it. Yes, Zak got his facts wrong, but everyone makes a mistake once in a while. And since two other people have already pointed out his error (without resorting to aggressive language) I'm not convinced that was necessary. Let's try to remember that everyone's human, yeah - even the mods and admins

Makes sense. They need to qualify it to stop the abuse that, otherwise, would surely occur.

I guess I'm just a bit over-sensitised to big stores and privacy, and my mind jumps straight to potential data-mining using "friends" links. But in this case, it looks like it's a straight attempt to build customer numbers. Note to self - don't be quite so cynical. Not quite.

    Weeeeeell .....

When the friend who is being recommended calls up to get their new contract, they have to give the existing Tesco customer's mobile number. So it's easy enough to link those people together as friends. If they use mobile internet, it's easy to see which sites they use, so it's easy to then target offers based on the "friends" that have been recommended. So I wouldn't give up on the cynicism just yet - I suspect this may well be used to do some data linkage and mining for commercial purposes...!

Indeed, Jim. And after all, enough data linkage is done for marketing purposes on FB and Twitter 'friends', "likes", and so on.

Okay, consider my brief lull in cynicism reversed. Ahhhhh, that feels better.

Indeed, though when I first read his post I wasn't sure which way around it was, but it's a thoughtful offer and one I would like to take up, assuming that the offer still stands as I am on Tesco Mobile.

So, what do I need to do?

I'm guessing it's a case of simply PM my phone number, right?

KeyboardDemon, too late I am afraid!
I have gone with 3 as they have just paid me ca$hback ( Was in my last month with T-mobile, took contract with 3 and asked them to wait a month before they bill me, they refused, I cancelled contract within 7 days .. ) and it would be wrong if I didn't take a new contract with them. Besides, a mate is with 3 and I'll get £30 and he will also get £30 due to Recommend a friend thingy

No problems. It's all good. I appreciate the offer, most of us would have just signed up with a new contract.

What option are you going for with 3?

I pay £32.50 for my Tesco SIM only deal, it covers my phone (500 minutes, 5000 texts, 1gb data + 150 minute family perks @£10) my wife's phone (1500 minutes, 5000 texts, 1gb data + 150 minute family perks @ £15) and my Mum's phone (250 minutes, 5000 texts + 150 minute family perks @£7.50) and have until July 2014 before I can switch provider, but it's always worth knowing about the better deals for future reference (assuming there are any).
