You know those emails where the person tries to get your bank details or whatnot by claiming there is a problem with your account and blah blah blah.
In older days, they did not even try to spoof their email address, or proof-read the content for that matter.
In recent years, spoofing the email address has become standard, and the spelling have improved. But there is still one major give away: they never refer you by your name.
Well, I suppose that after using the same account for well over a decade for a lot of things, this was going to happen, but someone somehow got hold of my full name and linked to my account.
And I got an email claiming my Paypal account has been limited blah blah, and to fix by downloading an html file crafted to look like a normal PP page but no doubt would send my details if I typed in it.
I did get suspicious by the fact that it's an html file, but considerably less because they had my name. Viewing the header also revealed that it's not sent by PP.
I really think that the full headers should be displayed by default in those free email providers. I worry that my folks, who might fall for this one, and it's easier to say "Always pay attention to this part of the screen", than "If you suspect that the email is fraudulent than do this and this (to display the full headers), then pay attention to this part".
