    Re: Vodafone Price Differentiation

Well I've given notice on one line and will be moving to GiffGaff - pac code here and ready to go

Just had a text on the other line I have that they are phasing out the contract that is on (it mentions it being an 'old' package, but it was only taken out 24 months ago and was the negotiated deal from them mis-selling a package - another long and boring story). They then tell me that the line rental will increase by 50%. No thanks, that'll be moving too then.

So in 30 days time (from whenever I can get through*) I'll no longer be a Vodafone customer.

*Vodafone's contact centres are open 8am to 9pm, except they aren't. I phoned at quarter past 8 and the phonelines are closed/using the out of hours options. Sounds like someone has forgotten to account for the clocks going back....

I never understood this shift years ago to 18-month, and then over the past few years to 24-month contracts anyway. It seems a ridiculously long time to be locked into a plan which will inevitably become cheaper after a much shorter time.

Could be worse, my other half tried to renew her contract with O2, the sticking point for her was data allowance as her current contract was only 500Mb. The customer service drone she got kept arguing that she didn't need any more data because she always came in just under her allowance.

I had this last month when I upgraded - turns out that they weren't showing VAT until you clicked a particular button on the page. Cheeky, I thought! When I spoke to the guy on the phone he couldn't understand why the prices were different on my screen from his - sneaky gits.

I hope you have better luck than I did lol.

I migrated to GiffGaff on the day they had some sort of migration foul up, but unlike some people on their forums, I understand that technical problems happen.

The increasing cost of phones and a desire for a healthy profit for the network, it is, after all, basically an interest free loan over the duration of the contract.

However, given Ofcoms most recent rumblings about being able to terminate your contract if any change is made to costs, expect to see higher monthly contract prices in the not too distant future.
