    Arrow Bonfire night

Why does bonfire night seem to linger on five days after the 5th. People in my area were letting them off on the 2nd and they are still going off on the 9th. I remember the time when there was only fireworks on bonfire night. Its crazy! Soon people will be trick or treating on the 30th and 1st of November.

    Re: Bonfire night

I would say that there are two reasons - though mostly the first.

    1. The 5th was a weekday, and therefore plenty of people will not have had the time to be able to arrange/attend a display, hence doing so on the weekend before and/or after instead.
    2. Some people are inconsiderate and like to set them off randomly (I think a few years ago, there was an occasion that I heard them during the day!).

Same here, 3 weeks straight. Driving the dog batty, he won't even go in the garden when it's dark now.

It bemuses me that for all the things the government says are too 'dangerous' for us to have, we can still buy unlimited quantities of explosives for use in our back garden as entertainment.

    3. People having displays in their garden sometimes wait until it's not raining.

    Re: Bonfire night

Was staying in Muswell Hill last night and got an absolutely fantastic fireworks display for free from the hotel window. I thought the unofficial rule was weekend-after-the-5th anyway?
