LG smart TVs sending user data back to LG

Seems worrying, how many other manufacturers are doing the same? There also must be a cost of sending the data for the end user. Does it do this with the TV's skype camera?

All rather Big Brother is watching connotations.

I reckon that since the inception of this digital telly lark they're all spying on our viewing habits.

I suggest you drop your pants and moon at the TV screen to give them an eyeful of what they deserve. Don't let the wife or kids catch you doing this it's awkward to explain (especially if you're tuned to the 'Hot Moms' channel )

I have a decade old Panasonic CRT that is brilliant for sport and when i do upgrade my TV will not be connected to the internet.
There is probably a way the TV licencing people can utilise TVs to inform if the installed location has a licence or not....

And Virgin/Sky set top boxes don't do this already?

My series one TiVo had the ability to snoop on me over a decade ago.

Mildly annoying yes, but I can't see how people are surprised. I do have an LG TV, perhaps I should whitelist the sites it can get to. Then only Netflix will know my viewing habits

It was more the scanning of any attached storage and submitting the data back even when the settings are changed to stop this.

Let us know of that bricks your TV. A new age of DRM will have arisen.
