    Spammers getting more inventive..

I guess I'm not the only one to be getting plausible sounding e mails with a zip attachment containing an exe file.

Latest one to grace my inbox was one purporting to be a Skype voice mail message. Almost plausible as I use Skype a little bit, and I also use a VOIP service that sends voice mail as an attached mp3.

Just a heads up to be aware that spammers are getting more devious in their social engineering exploits...

and watch it on your android/iphone/winphone....

harder to spot the dodgy link on the picture loaded email that's phishing for you to log in on their fake website.

Had several of the skype ones earlier in the week. Blocked the domain, which was not Skype and had none since. Don't even use skype.

Had several supposedly from DHL too saying i have missed a delivery and to click on the attachment to see details. Not expecting anything and they certainly were not from DHL so blocked the domain for them as well.

Hmm, I never had the Skype one, I had one saying that I had a Yahoo voice mail, could see the attachment was only 7Kb though and a zip file at that!

I have had quite a lot of linkedin friend requests in the last couple of weeks. Which is odd seeing as I don't use it :/

    Re: Spammers getting more inventive..

Got a new one this morning. Supposedly i have missed a International Royal Mail delivery so they sent me a email requiring me to open the attachment and fill in the form so that i can claim my parcel. Yet another to add to the blocked domain list.

    Re: Spammers getting more inventive..

I don't generally receive any spam e-mails and I can't remember the last time I got an e-mail with an attachment that I wasn't expecting... I don't do much to protect my e-mail (its everywhere and all my profiles are public) so I guess I just have to thank gmail for doing a good job on the spam filter front.
