and what did you think ?
Lets exclude LAN parties and Bletchely Park social meets eh ?
I've met Jim and Saracen. Both were quite not what I was expecting.
What about you lot ?
How do you count people that you see outside of the LANs but met at the LANs?
probably a half dozen or so outside of the old 'social' events inc directhex a few years ago to buy a power supply
I've met Pingu back a ways when I bought a PSU from him (he lived on my way home so figured I may as well just pick it up), and I met Jim's Grandad (OK, that probably doesn't) when I dropped of some stuff for Jim at his house (again, it was on my way somewhere).
Hmmm, also met eshrules when I biked out to Trafford Park (twice!) to drop off some components he bought, and someone else - ctid, I think - who sold a laptop to me and delivered it to my house.
But I've never actually sat down and had a chat and a drink with anyone from hexus, which is probably my loss. Thre's plenty of us in Manchester & the northwest, we should probably start having minimeets![]()
DR - knew his brother back at school. Not spoken in probably 15+ years though.
the majority of people with green names, met them at LANs, one of the jims aswell and a taktak, then theres a bunch of gamegrinners (platinum and co) aswell.
probably passed infinite in the street once or twice (yes I have noticed his location is the same as mine)
other than that, who knows?
i've posted what I look like on here a few times, so you've no excuse for not meeting me
edit: misread the bit about excluding lans.

Hmm, are we excluding *all* Hexus socials? As met a few members in London and Bristol a few times!
Also with Finlay on the point of seeing every so often people met at a LAN outside of.
Otherwise met a few members when buying or selling. One being in the same town I happened to be living in.
Discovered an ex colleague was on here.
This is a really good point actually - there might be loads of people I know on here and we just don't realise it. Since I've been fairly active in a number of pretty techy social groups, I'd almost be surprised if there wasn't someone I know IRL on Hexus already...
Come on Cam spods, own up![]()
Met deejayjburnout as he fixed the spotlights in my bathroom for me!
Otherwise I've not meet anyone else as people do seem to be concentrated "daan saarf"
I must admit I have expectations for certain people, especially Saracen!![]()

I was hanging around the (absolutely rammed) Veeam stand at UKVMUG a couple of weeks and was going to try to catch Moby Dick's attention, but the guy was hella busy. Other than that... I know Rox0r (though we've not had beer since the little'un was born) and that's about it. I think.
Met quite a few people at the ABIT Fatal1ty event at Leicester Square many moons ago. That doesn't count as a LAN/Social does it?
If so, then I have met Dave, Steve, Nick, Moby, Stoo, scottyman, Rave and I am sure many others I can't remember. Haven't met anyone from Hexus in these past years though.
I have played games online with Pob255 once or twice. OTH,once you met me I will have burned my image into your psyche. You have been warned!!
Edit!!
Bagnaj97 is a mate who I managed to get to join this plaice.

Other than the Bletchley socials (where I have met g8ina) and LANs, I did go to a couple of the Birmingham meets. I met Flake99, who it turned out I had met a few years earlier when he came to party at my house when I was student; he was one of my housemate's friends. Small world...
Apart from the Bletchley meets (and the person who pointed me in the direction of HEXUS) no-one knowingly....
but then I've never quite mastered the handshake or the codewords....![]()
