    NHS Midwives :@

Why must the stupid midwives remove the manors from women when they deliver the baby?

stood to one side as a lady in a push chair was coming towards me, didnt blink at me, so i said "your welcome". which actually got the response of... wait for it..

"I dont have to say thank you i have a child"

to which i replied "and is the child looking after your manors?"

    "grunt grunt" *walk off*

had to chuckle, but think about how many people in prams, infact people in general fail to say thank you for little things like that.

It really irritates me that so few people have half-decent manners. Everyone seems to live in their own little world, where the only have too look after themselves. Anything else is someonelse's problem *hmmmph*

I sometimes hold doors open for people. Many folk are suprised, as though they've never seen anybody do it before.

'Tis a strange world in which we live.

She's suffering from post-natal depression, her boyfriend left her because she won't sleep with him, and he's refusing to pay child support, so she hasn't eaten in three days.

    OR

She's merely an example of the average Briton, and represents the future of our society.

yeah... years ago people on the bus etc used to say hello to each other and stuff like that, but nowadays say hello to anyone on some public transport, and they either think your their new stalker or a fruitloop with a knife with their name on.

The world has gone into coccoon mode where people don't even talk and say hello etc to their neighbours. Its a damn shame really, but end of the day I still say hello to random people and I don't give a monkey's if they think I'm as mad as a hatter because manners cost nothing and if one person uses them then it might influence others to use theirs too.

    Here here!

I know how you all feel. At my school, no one has manners or respect for that matter.

I find it amazing that nobody ever says "Bless you" when someone sneezes, and when I do, people look at me as if i'm a madman or they just start taking the wee wee.

What have we turned into eh?

Rude people annoy me too, but I try not to let it get to me. At the end of the day some people are still polite, and the good feeling I get from a thanks, or a friendly smile and wave if I've let someone out in the car etc. outweighs the annoyance from the rude gits who don't acknowledge you. At the end of the day, by choosing to have no manners they are also missing out on a fair bit of happiness

It's worse in london. I unfortunately had to go there today and so many people were amazed at simple acts of politeness. I guess some of you live around there.

I disagree with the women with young kids problem though. They can have a hard time of it all day if there's more than one. And dont mean to sound rude but judging by the talk in the car forum people should realise what baby on board means to some people.

Sorry about the rant, it's friday night and I'm posting here, go figure.

Well said - sums up my views. There will always be s**ts in all walks of life. To single out mums with young kids is wrong tbh. Prey tell me what group of people are always polite? Senior Citizens? Business Men and Women? Youngster? The middle aged?, the poor, the rich, the police.....

I derive much pleasure from the one in three people that respond positively

LOL @ Zak - I can just see your face

well there are a few similar peeves that get to me...
firstly the woman who drives the latest model of land rover, yup, the REALLY HUGE ONE. She is typically less than 5 feet tall and has one child in the back seat or a grumpy/sulking teenage in the front. She cares not that she takes up the whole road. she couldn't give a toss that she's just pulled out in front of you causing you to brake sharply and that if she'd waited only a few more seconds until you'd passed then she would have noticed there were no other cars following you and hence a safer time to join the flow of traffic. She is also the arrogant prat that cuts you up on the motorway because she was too busy thinking of herself and driving too fast to notice she was about to miss her turn off for the motorway exit...

anoter thing i've been pondering about is how the youth of today has changed to much in relatively short time...today's youths, well, chavs really...need i say more? I've found item's stuck to the bottom of my shoe worthy of greater attention than all the chavs put together in this country and lets not forget their european counterparts - some might call the illegal immegrants but thats a mere detail...manners? to them manners would be like removing your conjoined twin without first consulting your uncle who once went to a doctor for a nasty itch round his groin. Chavs have no manners and that there are so many of them filling our streets seems to affect even the mildest of people, they become angry and bitter, self centred and really couldnt give a bugger about anyone else...

I know london very well, and its astonishing to think that in such a vast and heavily populated place people can be so hostile to one another. even people dealing with public on a daily basis - tube staff, cafe staff, shop staff - can turn the average well meaning person into a bitter twisted individual willing a painful death on all who dare slow them down or get in their way on the pavement en route from one shop to the next...

a little bit of help though goes a long long way. does it really kill to be nice once in a while? Bad feelings spred from one to another in no time and its evident on the whole mood of the country. overall resentment at 'someone', be it government or some other organisation, usually due to their 'money grabbing ways' - often this is true but hey, couldn't we all do with a bit of value for money? perhaps that would make us happier.
I for one hate the fact it costs me more each time I get in my car or use the train. service suck and the roads are always cloged...and since everyone else feels the same - who's left to deal with it? no one. exactly...

people fail to take responsibility for their actions in todays world. and we get it right from the top, Blair, Bush...so instead of looking for someone to blame or pass the buck things need to change...

and I guess it starts with opening the door for old people - and grumpy women with babies... and remind them of your nicety

I always say thank you when padestrians(or people walking their dogs) step to the side to let me pass when I am on my bike. I always get a "You're welcome" back with a smile. It does catch some people by suprise when I say thank you but it's always good It's just the way i've been brought up by my dad ( we used to go cycling alot). The last sentence kinda describes why people are the way they are today (especially chavs (council house and violent ) )

My wife on a recent trip to New York held a door open for a well heeled woman (definitely not lady) who breezed past with her nose in the air....

My wife (not to be messed with) collars her and says 'don't you say thank you when people open doors for you'?
the reply 'in my country we don't'
the counter 'in my country we do....it's called MANNERS!'

I had a chuckle over this and pointed out that I'd got so fed up of that attitude whilst working over there that I made a point of slamming doors behind me regardless.

My pet hate (whilst commuting)was when trying to get off a train the brain deads on the platform trying to get on or crowding around the door so you can't exit. In the end I just got off anyway. If they were in the way, tough.
