I went out this morning at about 9 and actually went until about 1:00 thinking it was an hour later than it was cos I'd forgotten to set the time on my watch

Why do we put the clocks back and forward ne way (sorry if its a dumb question)?
its so farmers could have an extra hour of daylight in the day (light earlier and dark earlier) in winter i think
What ToMmEh said, it's to do with the more daylight so that in the winter it gets dark earlier but light earlier.
Back in the (i think) Sixties, we used to have Double British Summer time, where the time would go foward 2 hours, meaning it was light till like 23:30 in the middle of summer. The conservatives scrapped it though.....
