Winning a hexus competition = a day dream for me

Does anyone got lucky enough to win these competition posted by hexus? I must say i was tried for every single competition for worldwide users over the years, even before i am a member of a hexus community and to this day i didn't even win a simple sticker from it. i wonder how they select winners .

Re: Winning a hexus competition = a day dream for me

You've been here 6 months and are moaning already Try entering 'em for 7 years and not winning one.

You can get to see who wins what on the winners page, it is selected by random from all the entries, and if you consider that some comps have almost as many entries as there are HEXUS members (currently 268,500 members), you can see that it might be easier to win the Lottery.
    Cheers, David

I know I have 0.000000000001% of winning but I still enter. 7 years later, nothing!

Re: Winning a hexus competition = a day dream for me

I think what it's sometimes hard to appreciate is quite how many people must enter. It's not just HEXUS forum users, or even HEXUS readers - there are various places on the web where people post up competitions that you can enter, and then regulars will visit all of the mentioned websites to have a look and enter. I spent a couple of weeks doing it a few years ago, when I didn't have much to do for a while. Went to loads of sites that I would never normally have visited, just to enter competitions.

By the end, there must be a huge number of entrants.

Re: Winning a hexus competition = a day dream for me

what jim says is what my dad used to do for a year or 2. he was bored after retiring from work. hundreds of competitions per day.

we ended up with boxes and boxes full of stuff, from tea cosies to dvd players.
no big prizes like 40"TVs or cars (although he did win a mk2 escort when he was younger he drove it for a month then sold it )

just keep entering, you'll get lucky sooner or later.

Re: Winning a hexus competition = a day dream for me

I have won two-three times on Hexus..in 2007 and 2009, so a while back..but still, that Synology NAS is still going strong (i'm only just about to add a second one) and I did end up starting to use it for home automation (admittedly in a roundabout way via android and tasker but hey).

People do win, and often it is people from the forum too rather than from HUKD or another competition site - it was just easier when Hexus was smaller and less well known.

    Just takes a little luck

I won once too, a long time ago, a set of rubber anti-vibration case-fan mounts if I recall correctly...

Visit the forum for the community, enter the comps and forget about them. Don't sit there all dewey-eyed, dreaming of owning that new GFX card or PC. That's a serious waste of life.

Pretty much what I do: I did win a game about 5 years back, was pretty chuffed with that.
