Has anyone returned any computer bits to Amazon?

Just had some RAM go faulty (I suspect it has been since purchase, but never-mind) and I've gone to return it on Amazon...

Find item in order history -> return item

    Click Read more:

    Finally....

I just kinda assumed it would be automated, but the way they make it sound in the first and second image is you can't return it after 30 days - cheeky!

So has anyone returned any computer bits to them? I'll probably contact the manufacturer as it's Crucial and they're normally pretty good, but I'm curious
If it's a pain to do so, I'll move supplier again.

I called them up with an issue I had with some RAM, to be honest, usual excellent amazon service. That said, think I ended up paying postage, but frankly give a damn, compared to the time it took at the postoffice, that price was nothing.

Given that the stick of RAM has over doubled in price since I brought it...yeah, not too fussed about postage either at the moment

    Good to hear though

not sure if this applies.. but I've found the Amazon now have "drop off points" so you don't have to pay postage on a return.

My locals are little shops.... but WHAT a good idea

You need to go through Customer Services for returns outside the nominal 30 day window ; https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/help/cus...?nodeId=502564 - use the contact us button

I had no problem with customer services accepting returns within reasonable periods - no issue with Kindle, only problem was when I bought shoes and the sole came away - they were initially asking for it to be returned, but due to size and weight of the item it wasn't economic to return.

To add to this, & not strictly on topic, I looked into returning a non-faulty item and was ONLY offered collect+ (or collection from home) both with a charge - fair enough you expect to pay return costs if not a faulty/damaged item, like always - but I didn't know that these days amazon won't even offer you the option of returning by post, at your own cost.

The only way that option comes into play is if you select replace item (ie buy anything at all off them). All my collect+ options are way more inconvenient than going to a PO, so unless I'm missing something, upshot = won't be buying off amazon.

It may depend on the item size, I returned a duplicate 11 disc DVD box set after Christmas - printed out an Amazon returns prepaid label and popped in the post, got a full refund less 93p for postage.

Amazon usually good with their CS, returned some RAM late last year and was fine.

See, whilst they say that this is their Returns Policy, this is really the period of additional rights that they grant you, beyond your statutory rights. No matter what their policy says, you are still covered by both the Distance selling regulations, and the Sales of Goods Act for any faulty items, so even after 30 days you're still entitled to return a product as faulty or not fit for purpose without involving the manufacturer.

I've just tested some other items (dummy run of the returns process) & they all came out at £2.75 or up - for say a paperback - so why 93p for your dvds, not sure. However it was the issue of not being able to return by post that I wasn't prepared for; I'm ok with paying to return, if it's my fault.

My 2 local ones are Asda supermarkets, YMMV but it's Collect+

(mine was a free return due to Prime missing the date (by a week!) before xmas)
