The Tweaktown article said it was reported by the Korean Central News Agency,ie,the KCNA which is false.

It came from the website Waterford Whispers News which is a satire website.

thanks for that detailed response, but you seem to have overlooked the continuing sarcasm of my posts in this thread. The suggestion man could land on the sun is farcical, and even the dimwits of North Korean brain-wash propaganda wouldn't be stupid enough to pretend otherwise. Of course it's satire. Hence my suggestion it had come from the Onion or such like several posts ago.

Its more the case,the article in the OP and numerous sites made it sound like it was actually something reported in the NK news,ie,the truth. Its even funnier than even more people on the internet thought it was true. Its just poor journalism full of hyperbole. A one minute Google search would have been enough for any of the sites to find where it originated from.

Its like the recent news about a general being eaten alive by dogs:

It was basically something which appears to have originated on some random blog.

I am not saying NK is some bastion of freedom,fairness and wealth,or they don't have nutters in power but I do wonder if some of the more extreme stuff we hear,is just the press trying to make a quick buck from shock value,or the general propaganda of two countries technically still at war after 50+ years.

While it was fairly obviously not true, part of the beauty of the satire is that it's almost believable that North Korea would make such a claim. I think CAT's fairly justified in reminding people that it's satire and NK didn't actually claim this - there's enough idiots and xenophobes on the internet for this to get taken seriously (the North Korea part, not the man-on-the-sun part) and be used as ammunition for all kinds of vitriol. Don't forget hexus is a public forum and anyone can read threads - just because the regular membership are bright (cynical?) enough not to be taken in doesn't make that true of everyone who reads the thread...
