    Nuisance phone calls

I am not usually in during the day...and I am expecting a call.

So far, In the last hour I have had the following calls.

    1) Britney - who wanted to sell me a phone (I told her I have a court injunction that means I cannot own a phone)

    2) Edwin Isaacs - who knows I love books and want to buy more (told him I was blind)

    3) Tarquin - who wanted to speak to the homeowner re a secured loan (told him I would like £25000 to hire a lawyer to represent me in my repossession hearing)

    4) Johny Johnson - who got told "politely" to go away

all four where obviously from Indian call centres...I remember hearing that they had been told to adopt English names to sound more approachable...I am just waiting for David Beckham to call selling insurance.

To top it all off...Jehova's Winesses have just called.

The day can only get worse if Weatherseal call. They still have not got the message after I nearly had to physically eject the salesman from my house and have told them several times I would not buy from them even if it was free.

Pain in the rear are cold calls.

I opted out of receiving them about a year ago, I have just had a quick google and found http://www.optoutuk.co.uk , not sure if that is who I used but seem to do the job!

Ooh! There's a Fax Preference Service too. Great. I once made the mistake of giving out my 2nd home line as a fax number. Boy, did I regret that when I stopped using a fax machine!

P.S. Dave - Can I interest you in a set of encycopedias?

thats a record! They must have followed you in a van and spied on you. Soon as you were connected: "Right he's got his line, quick get marketing to call him! Try to get him some new double glazing for that brand new house of his!!!!"

My brother recently rented a flat in manchester. He kept getting phone calls from staybrite asking him if he needed some new double glazing. He told them "Certainly, but I'm not sure how you'll be able to fit windows on the 5th floor without major scaffolding!!"

my sister once answered the phone at my mums house to a double glazing salesman & said "its actually not my house, its my mums, but i recall her saying something about wanting a conservatory recently so you may like to ring back later" my poor mother had a constant barrage of calls for about 3 months

i made sure we went ex-directory when we moved into our current house so haven't had any calls as yet, only thing i have to put up with is the previous owners junk mail, which has fortunately decreased significantly in the year i've been here
if it ain't broke...fix it till it is
