    Make mine a cold one

after a week of stupid work and paypal hassle's i nipped down to safeway and bought a case of beer for tonight. but i am sitting here drumming my thirsty fingers waiting for them to chill in the fridge and freezer.

any tips on how to cool beer quicker. i though about filling a bag of water up and stick them into that in the fridge ???

That's pretty much what I'd suggest. Or maybe put it in the freezer - just make sure it doesn't freeze! Or do the thing you said, but with ice cubes.

I was thinking about getting a TEC, a 200w one should be more than capable of freezing beer within a few seconds.
Problem is keeping the TEC cold, and also powering the thing. Ive got a few old AT PSUs capable of running them, and im tempted to make a new waterblock for running a TEC... (it would only take me 5 mins to make one!)
If only tecs were cheaper, I cant justify spending £40 which is good part of a days wages, just to chill some beer....

If you had a spare heatsink, like a thermalright slk800, that would probably be capable of cooling the TECs hotside, esp if you used a 100w or less TEC, but owuld take a bit longer...

Another way would be to fill the sink with cold water, that would take 10 degrees off as mains water is about 10c all year round... but would take 30 mins for it to work..

Sticking it in fridge/freezer would take ages because they work on the idea that they dont use much power, but have extreemly good insulation, so that none of the heat gets back in once its gone..

in the freezer.. with a bag of peas both sides.... make sure you lie the tin/bottle on it's side as the heat gets conducted away quicker. The peas help just like heat sinks

should be drinkable in 20 minutes... not advisable to leave any longer cos they'll pop :S
