Well, 25 is far too young, whether it's drug-related or not, and I feel for her family and especially her two young kids.

However, IF it relates to drug abuse, then all I can say, pretty much as I did with Amy Winehouse, is that it mitigates my sympathy for her (though not for her family). You play with fire, you might well get burned. And there are young people, even kids, dying all the time of road accidents, nasty long-term illnesses and all sorts, that don't get all the media hoopla. Spend 10 minutes in a children's cancer ward, and it .... brings my sympathy levels for victims of self-induced substance abuse (if that's what this was) into sharp perspective.

You think I'm jumping the gun? Did you see those pictures from a couple of years back? Anyone who is doing that amount of heroin at such a young age, is going to be having long term organ related issues.

I'm not going to link them because of hexus and the whole nudity thing, but having seen her apparently doing a DJ set at a private function about two years ago, I can tell you that she arrived wasted, wasn't able to even sit at the decks and some guy did the entire thing for her.

When it comes to working with addicts I can say it's not my first rodeo, and she was certainly using a lot.

You can't live that life, even for a few months without it taking it's toll.

It's still so sad though, for her family. I was going to say that that family is really unlucky although a lot of the tragedy has been down to drugs. Those poor little boys though.

there are 2 very big reasons prohibition causes drug related death.

1. street heroin is full of dangerous impurities.
2. street heroin is impossible for the user to know the strength, frequently leading to overdose.

Legalise it, regulate it, get a deal with Afghanistan to produce it, make the country rich. War on terror over in that part of the world.

Seriously, you should have seen me when they cut me off. I was in such horrific pain still, then the withdrawal, the issue was that they were worried about my long term health and this was just tablet codeine in relatively low dosage compared to what a heroin addict would probably use.

I agree however that removing the street sourcing issues would be great, not only for users, for people who live in our society, and for those who live in the growers.

But users at the same time should be aware of the consequences of their actions. We have lots of dangerous things in our lives however, alcohol for instance plays havoc with many organs too! I dislike my phrasing. I am wanting to say that these things bare a toll, sometimes invisible, in the case of others, quite visible.

The refined version of Heroin, morphine is used in hospitals because it is a powerful painkiller. It is used in low doses, for as short a time as possible, under close medical supervision because of it's pharmacological properties. The exception to that is in the case of the terminally I'll, where death is likely to occur from the underlying disease rather than from long term use of morphine.

Heroin is a synthetic derivative of morphine, morphine itself naturally occurs in opium poppies. Also both are used in hospitals for similar purposes.
