I drink to excess every day. My body has been built very well!Originally Posted by Marcos
Any particular reason mate? Bodybuilding has always seemed to me like a sport looking for a reason to exist. If you want to take your body to the limit without needing to take nasty sh1t like steroids and diuretics to win, why not do athletics or weightlifting or something? The human body was designed to adapt to its circumstances and become very strong if necesary; it wasn't designed to pop muscles and veins out of a body containing 3% fat.
You can look like one of the models on the cover of Men's Health magazine through just hard work; you'll never win Mr Universe without taking a lot of drugs and putting your health at risk. Competitive bodybuilding is not a sport that I'd advise anyone to get involved in.
The forums you linked to have whole sections devoted to steroid use. I find that scary.

There is only one reason I need to go to the gym : physiotherapy.
www.johnstonefitness.com has some pretty good diet advice.
Used to keep fit a lot, but had an injury... having trouble getting back into a routine now.
The reason? I think its to do with my past to be honest. Just before the end of school i was the biggest guy in the school, it felt good to have that instant respect and put my mind at rest in social situations.
But since then I just feel like everyone is catching up and now i miss that feeling. I simply want to reach a look which im satisfied with, and if i get healthy along the way and learn to eat properly then even better
I dont want to get huge, just want to get that edge again.
Fair enough. If your sense of self worth is merely based on looking hard though....maybe you should look at why that is, and maybe try and find some other reasons to like yourself.
I'm really not trying to take the piss, I spent years in a pit of depression because I felt worthless. For a lot of that time I had a rock hard six-pack, and it didn't help at all.

I do a few press and sit ups, just to keep in shape, keep everyone happy. You need no more advice than this - eat a lot of tuna and jump about a bit.
You'll get fit and look good in no time and if you are really lucky, you might look like me.![]()

Yeah but Cumberland Sausages (or Pork and Leek!) > Tuna, any day of the week![]()
Well, I like tuna, I'd eat it by the tin full anyway, so that's ok. Tuna and Spring Onion crackers > all.
Gym is good regardless, and I applaued your decision. Though body building is a bit extreme. I used to attend the Gym regular and need an excuse to start again, though by the time I come home from work I feel a little tired and always find an excuse to put it off, annoying.

, I do not at all intend to take bodybuilding to the max, and i certainly will not be using steroids at any point. It really is as simple as me wanting to get into the shape i want and getting healthier along the way. I would just call it 'going to the gym' but i will also be bulking as my upper body needs plenty of work to proportion with my strong legs.
And bodybuilding may just be the base of things, i may also take up something good & fun too once i get into the routine. Maybe rock climbing or cycling, ive just never been great at sports, i was only good because of my size and speed/strength but that advantage has slowly withered away
Also, its not hard for me to manage my weight, i can easily lose and gain weight. But i think im ready for more than that, i think i can commit to a clean diet and a good workout plan and it will certainly help me to feed myself at uni as i'll be much better prepared than alot of the others.
Coventry? Same hereOriginally Posted by Zedmeister

Im looking for work atm and im going to sign up to some agencies if they let me get away with not having any photo ID (passport renewal problems). But once im in work i'll be looking to join a gym and if you are up for it too, i know one other person in Leamington who is also interested in joining and i think my brother wants to too.
I go to the Esporta one next door to the Jaguar plant and am still signed up. Tis quite pricey but the facilities are very nice.
I actually end up going for about a week then stop for 2 months. At the moment I can't seem to drum up the need. I really want to go, but I can't seem to go. Does that make any sense? Its annoying me.
I think i know what you mean, sometimes if it wasnt for the fact that others relied on me to go to kickboxing i probably would have been too lazy to go.
Oh yeah, forgot to mention thats another reason i need to go to the gym, i dont have any exercise right now, since i moved and had to quit kickboxing. And i no longer walk to college etc im basically getting zero cardio. Surprisingly i havent gained any weight, not in figures anyway, but i think muscle has turned to fat.
I havent yet had a proper look at the gyms, and no idea how much cash i will have spare. Do they do anything less than 1 year contracts? As i'll only be here until next septemeber max.
Same here, last time I went (In october) I noticed that my weight had gone down. Wasn't too upset until later on I learned that fat weighs less than muscle. It gets me down that I don't feel as fit as I did 6 months ago
Coventry Baths gym doesn't have any yearly contracts if I remember. Theres a place up far gosford street (Near rileys snooker hall) but thats a bit dodgy. Oh and if you are at uni, theres a students only gym near the alma building i think. Theres one in the Sports Connexion outside Ryton - that has 1 month contracts, but last time I went the facilities were rubbish (Torn seats on the weights machines, knackered bikes, no grip on the treadmills and missing weights off the free-weight racks)!
