    Vaporizers, E-cigarettes, etc.

Does anyone here use a vapo/e-cig?

I have been looking at them for a while now, and see many people out and about using them instead of smoking normal cigarettes. However, trying to look at the market is crazy as there are literally thousands out there!

Do you know of a good manufacturer? Or a reliable website that reviews them? Or even have a personal preference?

I understand that prices vary a lot. I wouldn't want a cheap plastic thing that will break in a few weeks, but I wouldn't want to spend hundreds either. Roughly a £30-40 initial investment.

    Re: Vaporizers, E-cigarettes, etc.

I did use the VIP branded ones for a bit.
Easy to charge, small package, refills are cheap and easy.

Even now, all I have to do is drag on one and my mind is filled with images of Rennaisance Italy (I was playing AC:II when I started).

However, in order to make the switch effective, I had to spend a weekend somewhere I couldn't smoke at all. By the end I was really GRRRRRRRRR and starting on the VIPs was pretty effective.
Downside was that the battery lasted me about half a day on full charge, so a second one was required.
I eventually went away for a few days, where power wasn't easily accessible and ended up switching back to the real thing.

VIPs are that kind that look like normal ciggies.
However, I do note that people seem to quit better using the ones that look like huge hookah things, where you fill them with liquid...

    Re: Vaporizers, E-cigarettes, etc.

Yep I've been on them since my son was born 2 years ago, cant recommend them highly enough. I currently use a Joyetech eVic with Kanger Pro 3 tank. I started using those things that look like cigs but they just ended up pissing me off with short battery and cartridge life etc. Vaping is the way forward using something like an eVic, i.e. large battery and and tank.

The initial set up cost is a bit more than you want to spend at around £90 but it's worth it and will pay for itself very quickly.

    Re: Vaporizers, E-cigarettes, etc.

Yeah I've been off the stinkies 10 months now and amassed a large collection of items

I'm busy at work at the minute but I'll link the setup I suggested to someone else recently, if you get a decent setup it's only consumables: coils (if you buy them), and liquid unless you physically break something

Cig-a-likes are a total waste, spend more on refills in a month than you would on a proper setup with liquid + coils

Sooooooo true, I buy 100ml bottles of DK liquid for about £13 and they last about 3 months, rebuild my own coils etc, cheap as chips, I've saved an absolute fortune compared to smoking tobacco or using E-cigs. Favorite flavours are, Red Cola, Aniseed & cinnamon.

    Re: Vaporizers, E-cigarettes, etc.

After some very useful posts from others on Hexus, i made the switch a while back. Stopped smoking the real thing after the first go with the E-Cig.

I started with this cheap (ish) kit, and then upgraded slightly after i dropped the thing and cracked a glass tank. That was cheap enough for me to take a gamble, but decent enough quality to make it last, had i not dropped it! I would however recommend avoiding that seller, should you choose to buy a kit like that, as they don't help themselves on the customer service front.

Refilling the liquid can be annoying, as its sort of sticky, and seems to get everywhere if you dont wash your hands, but far less hassle than ash and horrible smells!

How many Hexus vapers do we have now, enough to make a Hexus.Vaping forum worthwhile? I'd love to step up to a different model, but the number of forums and contradicting recommendations out there make research in this area a little daunting.

Make the switch Allen, you'll not regret it!

They always told me that the best way to stop smoking is going 'cold turkey', bro, unless that's not your plan

    Re: Vaporizers, E-cigarettes, etc.

Thanks guys, that Kanger Mini Protank 2 Kit does look pretty good, even at £30. If I cannot find a decent UK retailer, I guess I will have to risk it with MyEpack...

It looks like it doesn't come with any liquids, is that the only thing extra you have to buy to get up and running? It also look like the charger is US/EU only, is that an issue? Or is it USB?

    Re: Vaporizers, E-cigarettes, etc.

they are great devices and definitely beat real cigs - all I would say is be very careful and try and keep an eye on your usage..

Reason I say that is that out of the 5 friends of mine that have switched to these things, 1 has given up and the other 4 are vaping every few minutes all day long. They sit at their desk constantly at it, and it's a little worrying. it's so easy (and so much safer than smoking) that when you get a craving you can satisfy it in seconds (rather than minutes), and you naturally want more.

So they can be much more addictive than real cigs, just something to keep in mind! The fact there are so many gadgets to get with them helps with that too - we all love gadgets

edit: regardless though I would encourage the switch from smoking - its one of the best ways to quit (aside from going cold turkey) or a better way to enjoy that tasty Nicotine.

    Re: Vaporizers, E-cigarettes, etc.

Tbh, i would look for something similar to the Protank 2 kit. While i am reasonably happy with mine, and it did help me give up proper cigarettes almost instantly, i am not happy with it leaking every now and then, and i wouldn't want to recommend a product that you might get unhappy with in the future.

Of course, i have no idea of your budget, so if it were to be an initial purchase just to see how you get on with vaping in general, it might be well worth it.

IIRC mine came with one of the UK mains plugs with a USB hole in it, but i have happily used an iPhone USB Mains plug adapter thing before. You can use USB as a power source for charging, but there will be a longer charging time. You will require liquids. If buying at the aforementioned etailer, the Dekang liquids there seem ok, try the coke, honey, or banana flavours. Avoid the tobacco flavours, they are all disgusting. I ignored that last tip when i bought my first liquids, i thought it would a safe bet to have some tobacco liquid here. Its still here now, horrible stuff! Also, go for a medium nicotine concentration first. Too high a concentration might give you a headache, or make you feel a bit rough for a while. Remember those first few proper cigarettes you smoked?! You can always get a higher concentration if you feel medium one isn't doing it for you.

If you get on with it, you'll soon need another battery, as going without it while the battery charges brings on the inevitable cravings. Look for higher capacity when you do, and maybe a passthrough, which means you can plug it in to the USB port on your PC/Laptop and vape with the PC as a power source.

Let us know what you choose, and how you get on.

Spud is right regarding the addictiveness. Some of the flavours are so nice that it becomes pleasurable to use it all the time.

£8.99 with a 50% discount. Bit cheap, or worth it to get me started?

Seems like a decent starter, for £8.99. Where did you find the 50% discount bit though?

I might be tempted to wait for Finlay's suggestion, unless you are desperate to order.

With regard to the pro tanks and leakage, i think it might be down to me using non genuine coils, so don't be too put off by it. I thought it worth mentioning though, to ensure you didn't think of it as a perfect solution.

I'm considering the move to vaping as well, was recommended one that looks like a hookah rather than a normal cig as well. Is Kanger a good brand then?

    Re: Vaporizers, E-cigarettes, etc.

Kanger is decent for clearos, as is Aspire (the Nautilus gets great reviews)

That £9 kit is ok, but it's a 510 connection not Ego which means getting little clearos for it will need an adapter.

The one I suggested was http://myepack.co.uk/innokin-itaste-...press-kit.html and http://myepack.co.uk/clearomizers/ka...protank-3.html

Ego/510 threaded kit (means anything pretty much will work on it), normal USB charging methods (just a micro usb cable), variable wattage and voltage and a kit where the coils are fairly decent

at the minute I'm running a CNA30 box mod and a Taifun GT clone, regular setup (with a VTC5) would easily be 3x what I paid for it, great for the lazy in me that forgets to charge it or take liquid out with me to fill it up

    Re: Vaporizers, E-cigarettes, etc.

Thanks for the information, but you are bewildering me with jargon!

The kit I mentioned was £17.99, reduced by the code SUMMER50 (IIRC) which I found on a vapo forum. I tried to look through the threads but again the jargon was confusing. You say it has a 510 connection, not Ego, what is the price difference? Can you recommend a decent looking kit that won't need much maintenance and just needs charging and refilling? I don't want to fiddle about with replacing parts all the time.

Also a site explaining what all the parts are and what terms everyone uses will be helpful. Again, I have tried to Google for this, but it's like a minefield of information out there!
