did they change the law on auto opting in at the checkout ?

Random question, I remember all the crap about scan and the auto opt in for scamscansure, did they change the law to prevent retailers doing this ?

I got caught out for a carbon tax offset rushing an order through on my phone for an online plumbing retailer and wanted a bit of ammo before I went off on one at them

I am sure something was due in q2 this year but its hard finding the info I want with the search terms I used!

    I found a gov doc here https://www.gov.uk/government/upload...s-guidance.pdf

I am unsure if it applies to a 50p carbon offset added to my delivery charge?

    anyone help on this ?

Yup. New regulations updated the DSR a month or two back, and it was part of that. As for carbon offset, dunno, but presumably, if it's optional, you ought to have to opt in, not opt out.

Cheers m8, also found this http://www.harbottle.com/recent-chan...perating-uk-2/ and threw that at them as it stated charitiable or not have to be opt in as from June.

I would rather walk my Girl to School rather than pay 50p for a carbon offset!
