I opened a letter with bad news, but it demonstrated triboluminescence brilliantly.
Obviously I hadn't bothered to capture it with my camera. But i'd just got home, the old school energy saving lights in my hallway were still warming up, I opened the letter and was met with a lovely blue glow as I peeled it open along the adhesive seal.
An amazing beautiful light, reminding me of Cherenkov radiation.
What other odd turns of 'cosmic balance' did other hexites have lately?

Actually I got the same effect off my payslip envelope today! Maybe there's a batch of glue going around at the moment?

I had a lovely rainbow effect on the ground a few days ago. It just so happened to be exactly where the car was once it was reversed out.

There was a weird bit on Newsnight tonight when Evan Davis was talking to Political Editor Michela Strackan - he was in studio lighting whereas she had a vivid electric blue light to one side that made her look like she had shimmering blue skin on one side of her face.
Groovy!

That would probably be either a reflection from a blue screen or a poor chroma key (although chroma keys are usually against a green back background). The Newsnight set is a virtual set.

It's cool! Get hold of some children, and some sugar and try this:

In my case it was the adhesive on the envelope, it was very strong and I was peeling it slowly off, it gave out a blue glow as it was pulled apart I should have video'd it, much neater than the quick googled ones http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M35k_8k4ONQ

Sorry - I should have said Allegra Stratton - obviously some subconscious thing about Michela there...

About a week ago I broke out on top just as the sun was setting. Fantastic!
