What to do for New Years!

Well same as last year and the year before no real options for New Years Eve, stupid prices at crappy clubs that play tosh music seems to be the main event…. Great!!!

The friends I knock about with have varying tastes in music making going to a club of some description or just the same place a nightmare. I was thinking about having a house party but would need everyone to commit to make it worthwhile!

I thought about maybe going to France I saw a deal for £150 which included food, drink and a night in a hotel, which looked good but only a handful or others were up for it or could part with the cash…

So what are you guys upto and got any crazy ideas for me?

    Host a party instead

The pubs are taking the michael charging for US to spend our money there, and as you have said clubs are too . I HATED the fact that every new year my group of friends used to be split into 3 groups - 1 goes clubbing hard house style, 1 goes to a metal club and the others go to a breakbeat night somewhere else.

What we're planning on doing is having a house party where the musics a blend of all 3 and guess what, it will be cheaper, We'll have no nanny state saying when I can and cannot finish drinking and I will not have to pay DOUBLE for a taxi home

As zak33 states on nearly every post - you know it makes sense

Decided against going out into town drinking last year, and I'm sure I chose correctly.

You have to pay "charity" money on the door, if there's no jingle in the bucket, you ain't getting in.
You have to queue for at least 30 minutes to buy a drink.
    Drinks are far too overpriced.
    It's far too overcrowded.
Pretty much every chav, his seven sisters Chantelle, Cherise, Candice, etc, his mother, her boyfriend, his father (with drink habit) and his Pittbull terrier will be there.
    The pub/bar closes!

So last year, I had a quiet night in with the missus. Couple of bottles of wine, a film, watched the countdown. Then after 12 when everyone starts coming home, I went to a friends house where a party is held every year.

Same plan this year... we're planning on watching Little Shop of Horrors :>

Yep me and my mates have become weary of going into town too. Its just a ripoff and usually, not _the_ best night as new years is supposed to be.

So this year, starting off early at a local pub, then walk back to house party till whatever time we like!

Most pubs here dont charge entry, unless you go to the 'trendy' 'bar' ones.

the local rock/metal/alt club only costs £8 in advance for NY, its £5 a normal sat so £8 aint bad, drinks will still be cheap.

Did I mention I only live 10mins walk from city center too... seems I got it easy.

House partys are excellent, tho they soon go down the drain when the drink runs out. And cleaning up the next day aint that fun.

Saying that if I was still renting Id be having a party!
