    Re: Beautiful Engineering.

Im not a fan of the end product either, definitely not my style, or even remotely close to what i could afford. I don't think thats the point though, the process documented in the video is fascinating and it really built a level of appreciation that goes a bit beyond the physical appearance.

How much would that bad boy set you back, and would you buy it if you could?
The bragging rights might be worth it alone, but honestly... it's the box that it comes in that I want the most. =P

    Re: Beautiful Engineering.

Pretty much as biscuit said. As a piece of jewellery, the outer case does not appeal at all, but the precision micro-machining and manufacturing process does.

For me, it would be an item of greater beauty if the case was transparent so you could admire the movement itself.

    Re: Beautiful Engineering.

The beauty is indeed in the engineering.

They are only available to Patek collectors with a price tag of about 1.6M.

Whilst not my style of watch design at all, what an amazing video, such detail, such complexity, I love watch movements because they make it almost easy to appreciate themselves.
