Britain is READY for Christmas this year..... isn't it? It wants it....
Are you feeling it?

There is less grumpyness.. more goodwill....shopping is still gonna be hell, but it'll work out.
something has changed this year.. maybe the lovely summer.. but whatever it is.. Gt Britain is looking forward to Christmas more than I sense it has for a looooong time

Re: Britain is READY for Christmas this year..... isn't it? It wants it....
All my Christmas shopping so far has been via the Internet. I have a couple of click and collect items from my local outdoor shop, but I will try to avoid any major shopping centre until well after Christmas Day, apart perhaps from Sainsburys or M&S, so I can't really say I have noticed.... Except that the external house decorations in my neighbourhood seem a little more extensive this year!

Boiler gone, No heating or hot water, kitchen ceiling in bits, working 9 days straight then 21 days straight after Xmas, aye really not feeling it lol

Re: Britain is READY for Christmas this year..... isn't it? It wants it....
All I know is that I can afford it less this year than any other year despite having a higher salary.
Make of that what you will.

Re: Britain is READY for Christmas this year..... isn't it? It wants it....
bah humbug.
Not feeling it at all. Neither are most of the people I know. Very few decorations anywhere. Very little xmas cheer (hell not even any xmas songs yet)......all shopping online (how xmasy is amazon?)......
Just going through the motions......

Re: Britain is READY for Christmas this year..... isn't it? It wants it....
I always get myself into the christmas spirit by buying myself a present :)
Christmas shopping is always the bit i hate, so getting that out the way as early as possible helps me feel in a better mood close to christmas.
I'm really smug now as i've just finished the christmas shopping, Gone round the local town which wasn't too busy, and then finished it off online.

Pretty much sums it up. Even though I'm strongly anti-religion (not atheist, anti-religion), one thing I miss from my Irish childhood was a lot of the religious palaver / carol singing etc of the event. Plus up till the late 80s snow and ice was normal so it felt the part. In our consumer frenzied, global warmed, reality TV watching overpopulated planet, something has gone very wrong.

Re: Britain is READY for Christmas this year..... isn't it? It wants it....
all the shops in town are closing/closed, council may be closing all the parks, public toilets, closing the beach from September until may. theres potholes all over the place which keep reappearing a few weeks after they've been repaired.. etc.
the 'decorations' that were put up a few weeks ago, well half of them are broken, and the rest have fallen down.
loads more southport news, which I won't bore you about.
its all very merry and jolly around here

Well, I'm very much up for it. As soon as the weather starts to turn, I can't wait 'til Christmas.
Makes the whole freezing weather thing feel worthwhile.
Next step is Christmas shopping on Oxford Street... there's no place quite like it IMO.

Re: Britain is READY for Christmas this year..... isn't it? It wants it....
It's just another day that will highlight everything that's missing from my life with the added bonus bombardment of a load of capitalist nonsense, pressure to spend money I don't have on things that people don't need and the expectation that I shall be happy and joyful throughout when I have absolutely no reason to be.
So no, not so much...

Re: Britain is READY for Christmas this year..... isn't it? It wants it....
Feeling just a few twinges, despite myself. Generally, when the sun shines (as it is doing so wonderfully today) everyone is that little bit happier, which helps at this time of year. I'm looking forward to the kids coming home, a bit of time off, an excuse to do what I want rather than what I need to and a nice walk or two with the wife. And I quite like the challenge of finding the right present and the pleasure of it being gladly received.

Re: Britain is READY for Christmas this year..... isn't it? It wants it....
Well I've just stood right in my doorway and been ignored by all of santa's elves [collecting money for some sort of rotary type thing] & briefly wondered if I was dead and in the middle of one of those films where no-one can see you (if you can read this knock once for yes :O_o1:) - so not a good start.
Assuming I do actually exist, am I feeling it...? Nope. :P

Re: Britain is READY for Christmas this year..... isn't it? It wants it....
I'm certain somebody posted after Zak but I can't see it... I just felt a cold breeze and a whisper on the wind ;)
As for a Christmas enema, I am in need of many things good sir but a yuletide colonic isn't even on the list!
Besides, it sounds very much like a procedure that involves egg nog and guess what? I hate egg nog too :P

This christmas...i don't really care about christmas! :) #1 son (Michael) has gone to visit (should of not long landed in Edinburgh i think) #2 son (Luke) at Uni in Dundee. Next weekend they will both be back home, this year, this is all that matters for me...

Re: Britain is READY for Christmas this year..... isn't it? It wants it....
Christmas this year is the first time I've been properly excited since I was a child.
I've got the period from the 24th all the way through to the 5th of January off work, when they shut the workshed.
I'm going to my girlfriend's parents for Christmas day, Boxing day and the 27th, come home for the 28th, 29th and 30th, then I head to Edinburgh for the 31st, 1st and 2nd.
I cannot wait to see the look on her face when she opens the Macbook Air I've bought her, that she's wanted for as long as I've known her.
And the Edinburgh Hogmanay festival is something I've wanted to do for years, which this year I've finally booked.
I'm definitely feeling the spirit this year!
CHRISTMAS!!! :D
