Man In Custody After Shipping Himself As Air Cargo

Charles McKinley said he flew hidden inside a wooden crate in the cargo bay of a passenger aircraft from New York to Fort Wayne, Ind., and then to Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport.

"I'm sitting there thinking, 'Oh my God, I don't know why I'm doing this,'" McKinley said. "And the whole time I'm sitting there, I'm thinking like, 'Any minute, somebody will notice there's somebody sitting inside this crate, and they'll just leave the crate alone or they'll step back and ask, 'What's going on?' No one did."

According to McKinley, over the two days and 15 hours in the crate, he got out a couple of times to stretch his legs. He described the journey as cold and uncomfortable.

AS cargo dont go through immigration checks (i.e. passports, visas, etc) I think it would be illegal for a person to travel as cargo.

Also cargo bays are not pressurised and might have been dangerous.

And as such all airlines have regulations against passengers in cargo. So he can be arrested on that alone.
