    FAO: Theo and other stretchers

    hey,

I'm wanting to stretch my lobes (not much tho) and it's one of the areas of piercing i havent really explored in great detail. Anyway, i know you shouldnt stretch to far too fast, BUT i was wondering how far *too* far was.... Since i'm only wanting to stretch to 3.2mm (they're at 1.6 just now) would it be ok to just go ahead and stretch to that in one go or should i go to 2.4 then 3.2?
I'm going to be getting my piercer to do the stretching, but i dont want to be getting my hopes up and then have them thrashed if i go and ask him to do it and he says i cant

anyways, yeah, theo... or anyone else for that matter, can you shed some light for me pls?

    Hush, Michael.

You should go up in the smallest steps as you possibly can. With each stretch you are creating tiny little tears in the flesh, so you have to allow them to heal. Don't let them heal, or go up too many gauges at once, and the microtears turn into larger tears. This can cause soreness, scarring, and possible blowout (depending on the person, of course).

So leave it at least 3-4 weeks between every stretch. Preferably 6-8 weeks though.

    Soooooo:

    1.2mm
    HEAL
    1.6mm
    HEAL
    2.0mm
    HEAL
    2.4mm
    HEAL
    3.2mm
    HEAL for two months
    Select your preferred jewellery.

Given that you're going to your piercing studio for the procedure, your piercist should be using a lubed up taper with each stretch. A newly stretched piercing should be treated exactly as you would a fresh piercing - antibacterial soap in the morning and either Savlon spray (if you're lazy), or daily salt soaks.

Be sure to use jewellery that is safe for fresh piercings when stretching - 316L/Titanium/etc.

    Have fun :>

up to 6mm in both ears now and theo's method is definatly the safest, I went up 1mm at a time in one lobe but in the first one I went up straight from 3mm to 6mm (was slightly drunk at the time to be fair) I was lucky and it doesn't seem to have done any damage but I wouldn't reccomend it.

If you've stretched beyond the elastic limit then you'll have a hole there, if not it'll shrink up and eventually go away or just leave a tiny hole

Why on earth would you want to do that to your ears - man!
To err is human. To really foul things up ... you need a computer.
