I was looking at my googlemail account today and noticed that there were some emails from an online retailer where an account had been created and an order placed using my email address.
The bizarre thing is that the person actually has the same name as me and as such I can see where the confusion happened.
I'm not worried that it is someone pretending to be me as the order information had name, address, mobile and landline number and after checking public records there is someone with the same name as me (although didn't middle name) living at that address.
The dilemma is what do I do about this? Do I contact the person to tell them of their mistake as I have access to his online account, personal information and payment information?
Do I contact the online retailer and tell them to remove my email address off the account? (Although as I'm not the account holder data protection will probably stop me from getting them to make a change)
Or do I do something else? (And no I don't mean going ordering a bunch of stuff on their credit card)
I want to do the right thing but not sure what that is.
