Question How do ice-cream van drivers stand their own chimes?

Never given it much thought, but there's a particularly loud specimen doing the local rounds, and even for those short bursts I find myself wishing Daisy Daisy would give him her flippin' answer do and get it over with, for God's sake.

    Anyone ever been a driver?

Not an answer to the question, but suitably and relevantly amusing:

It's much quieter inside the van.

Re: How do ice-cream van drivers stand their own chimes?

Many years ago I got on one of those land train things in Ibiza; you know, it runs between the various hotels and clubs. It used to play this repetitive ditty constantly. The stops and starts along the way sort of punctuated the annoying racket because the jingle stopped and started along with the motor.

The bloke driving it had slowly but surely been driven mad over the years. He seemed to get twitchy when the music came on and he'd hum it loudly; I don't think he even knew he was doing it.

By now, I reckon it will have made the poor bloke a full blown loony

Probably get used to it. I used to work at at airport and by airport I mean like a few meters from the runaway at times. Got to the point where you could have a conversation and forget that planes are coming in and out.

Now a few years have gone, I go back to the place to visit and its like WOAH HOW DID I NOT GO DEAF?!
