Obviously not a full time teacher- If so then immediately remove 2 of those weeks, as you will have to return to school to sort out class rooms, and plan the lessons- Spare a thought for them while your off sunning yourself

My other half's an English teacher. She's winding me right up at the mo by ringing me in work and talking about what's on telly and how she 'mght go and sit in the garden for a bit'
    Let's look at the evidence:

~£8k in student loans: paid off
~£6k in PGCE course fees: free
£4k 'golden hello' after 2 years in teaching (coming any day now!)
    6 weeks summer holiday

    It's a bloody scandal, I tell ya!

but then again what pay do teachers get compared to other industries?.

You have to deal with moronic kids.

I'll take my well paid IT job over teaching any day ta...

money is the root to all evil mate ! i had the money when i was young and *for me* i can't be trusted, i like the 13 weeks paid holls! I’m only an IT tech and IT lesson supporter, and yeah i could get more money, but... i like my spare time to much! and finishing work at 3pm is nice woooooooooo! But oneday I will have to get a better paid job purely to afford my own place!

Money may be the root to all evil, but it is also the route to stable situation, being able to afford to enjoy yourself, sure you can't just be money motivated but it damn well helps in a lot of things.

Not trying to rub it in, but i've got to have some justification over lack of holiday

PLus i think if i had 6 weeks off i wouldn't want to go back to work...

heh, even when i was on summer breaks from Uni - i still blooming worked, just to be able to help pay for the next years consumptions

August is a fine month to work, its silly season in most usual companies and there is generally no-one about to boss you about. Not that i usually have that problem
