Meh, I don't use free version anyway. Being a student, I pay 5 pounds per month which entitles me to their premium service. Cracking value, since I would never be able to afford to pay for all the music I listen to!

    Re: End of free Spotify?

Fair enough, though if you are a student, it's a bit like asking if bus prices going up will bother you.

For the rest of us (me, apparently , regardless of value for money it's a simple 'would you rather spend £120 or.. not spend £120', usually the latter funnily enough.

Actually I'm not even sure what my flagging this does lol, it's not like anyone can do anything about it by knowing, but hey ho.

Spotify confirmed that they're not removing the free service and that it was just a rumour

The NUS extra card is a godsend. Spotify Premium is definitely one of the best investments I've ever made. Could never go back to the free version. Ads suck.

    Not true aparently: http://www.musicweek.com/news/read/s...reports/061804

Good news - No way I'm paying £10 a month for it. I'll just switch to other methods (like listening to my google music collection of MP3s). I still don't understand why music costs more than films & TV (netflix)

I much prefer zune pass or XBOX Music. It's got an HTML app, so you don't need to install it on anything, it's only £9pcm (cheaper if bought annually), it works very well on the xbox and brings in the correct music videos for most stuff, plus anything that it lacks you can put an mp3 off in your onedrive for it to then be syncable via xbox music. The offline app mode works very well too.

Never really saw the benefits of Spotify.

Personally one of the big sells for me with Spotify is the fact I can sync music to my phone and listen to music on the go. I really like the catalogue of music too, pretty much everything I've wanted to listen to has been on there. Then again I am only paying £5 a month. But I guess my opinion could change when I have to go back to paying full price.

You could do that with Zune Pass (xbox music) before you could with Spotify.

    Re: End of free Spotify?

I tried out Spotify as I got it free with my 4G upgrade and it's OK but most of what I listen to I have in my music library anyways for djing.

I prefer tune in radio for general music consumption, ( not that that happens much)

It's a shame if it would be paid. I always used it and I love it. Way faster than looking on youtube for music.

    Re: End of free Spotify?

I've gone from having a reasonable audio and 5.1 setup to sonos and spotify. It's an absolute godsend to mess around cueing up songs from the iPad. Audio quality not as good but I listen to a lot more diverse music now.

Doesn't matter to me either way, as I get my music on CD (or LP).

Not interested in 'free" music services, with ads. I'd rather do without music.

Not interested in premium services, with a subscription. I'd rather buy the CD.

If they ever stop selling CD (or non-download) music, I stop buying music altogether.

I will pay money for MY choice of music, available to me, at will, indefinitely. I will not pay for an ability to listen this month, pay again next month. Not now, not ever, regardless of the available range, 95% of which I wouldn't want to listen to if it was free, indefinitely, anyway.

I have been sucked in by the fact that I can have access to 20 million tracks for the price of one CD album per month. The problem I find is that with so much out there, I struggle to settle on something to listen to! I wonder if I'd be happier in the long run just putting that £120 towards some well-chosen albums.
